What's wrong with a loss of 58 pounds in three months? That's almost 20 pounds a month! That's a great rate of loss. Sounds like your expectations are a little unrealistic. The weight isn't all going to drop off in a few months. It takes time, and it should. This is going to be a HUGE adjustment for your body. Keep up the good work, keep your expectations realistic and don't be so hard on yourself. YOU'RE DOING GREAT!

Your profile has no information, so we do not know anything about you, including what type of surgery you had. If RNY then it looks ok for 58 pounds in 4 months. If it was a lap band, then the wt. loss process can be slower. Keep exercising, following your doctor's protocol, eat well, drink plenty of water, take vitamins and calcium citrate, etc. What does your surgeon think? Any WLS surgery does not cause the weight to fall off overnight. I lost about 100 pounds in 7 months from RNY, which is about the same rate you're losing weight. I strongly encourange you to attend support group meetings, as they may be able to help you out further, once you can explain your daily routine to them. But your wt. loss sounds OK to me.

You have lost 20 Lbs a month.! When have you ever lost that kind of weight before? You just need to stay focused and be happy as you move forward because you weight loss will slow down as you develop more volume in your food eating habits. Do not get discouraged when you hit a weight plateau that can last for 3 weeks. Just do what you are doing and make sure you are exercising daily. Try increasing what you do in exercise a little more each day, or do it a little faster and harder. If you are not exercising, try to find a gym to join as that will help your weight loss continue. You are doing great, just keep it going. They say males lose more weight and I was 330 when I started on Dec 5, 2008 and at the three month mark I just made 60 Lbs. I work out every day in the gym, and I am happy that I was able to do this well for the first time in my life. You have another week to loose 3 more pounds and beat me. But it is not a race, it is the road to success that counts.

You'll be under 200 in NO TIME AT ALL!!!! You're going to start grabbing attention from everyone you see that has not seen you in a while from here on out! ENJOY the ride!

58 pounds in three months in fabulous! I know how you feel, though, because we hear of this fantastic weight losses from other people, but the reality is that your starting weight greatly affects how fast you lose. The more you have to lose, the faster it comes off at first. Other factors such as age, medication and gender also affect how fast you lose. I am 6 weeks out and have lost 28 lbs and I was concerned, especially since I seem to have hit a plateau the last 10 days, but the doctor told me that a) plateaus WILL happen more than once b) slow and steady is better than drastic and profound because that usually means there might have been some problems such as blockage, vomiting, nausea, etc at first that played a factor in the rapid weight loss at first. Could you have lost 58lb in 3 months before the surgery? I think not! Pat yourself on the back. Good job!

I would say pay attention to what your head is telling you, then put on your old jeans and see how they fit. Oh, they don't fit they're too big. Gee, my head must be broken like my body. Do some positive reading and do something good for yourself, change your old habits they didn't work anyway. You're doing great be proud of yourself and thank God and the people on this web site.

What you are doing wrong...is...complaining. Repeat that to yourself "I have lost 58 pounds...when have I ever lost 58 pounds."

Hi, sorry but Mary Higdon didn't post that comment above...I did. Didn't realize she was logged onto my computer. So to repost as me - What you are doing wrong...is...complaining. Repeat that to yourself "I have lost 58 pounds...when have I ever lost 58 pounds."

Hi Barbara, the only thing you seem to be doing wrong is being hard on yourself. You are doing quite well. It's not a race, quit pressureing yourself to perform. Do what you need to do, and let your body respond. It is not a programed machine, it is your body. We were obese for a long time, it takes time to reduce. Even with that being true, you are doing just fine. 58 pounds in 3 months? Give me a break. Patricia P.

You are losing weight! That's the important part. As you lose, ramp up your exercise a bit. Add 5 minutes a day to your walking till you are up to 1 hour. Many people swear by B-1 as a metabolism booster and take up to 9000 units a day. I have not tried that yet, but I plan to start with my next visit to Wal-Mart. And of course, no sweetened drinks.

Don;t be so hard on yourself, it took us a lifetime to put and keep it on, so it takes time to get it off! I have been losing like you and my Doc says, "I am doing great!" So guess what? You are doing great too! I'll bet you look better than you think you do! Keep up the good job! Lori In Michigan

Your mistake is moaning about a loss of almost 60 pounds in 3 months!!! You didn't gain 100 pounds (or more) overnight so why in the world would you expect to lose them overnight. Regardless of what type of WL surgery you had, 20 pounds a month is a lot of weight. RELAX!!!

You've lost about 60 lb in about 3 months! That's about 20 pounds per month. So here's what you are doing wrong: You THINK you are doing something wrong when you are in fact doing something right. Lighten up on yourself!!!
