I was having surgery within 2 weeks from my initial consult to surgery date. Seems normal to me.

It's normal to feel all sorts of feelings. Scared, happy, nervous, excited. Even after surgery you might think or say "what have I done?" You will be fine! We have ALL said this....Good luck and God Bless!

The exact thing happened to me. This seems to be the norm with some places.

Hi Markisha, thanks for writing. I think what you are going through is perfectly normal. You need to breathe and get ready for surgery. It sounds like your surgeon has worked with your insurance company before and they came through as expected. You just need to know that this surgery is actually what you want, and that you are as prepared as possible for it. It is a lot of changes. The surgery will not do the work for you, you still have to work. You will need to adjust your eating and get ready for the mental fight of your life. It is a strong head game, and if you are not ready for that, then you should re think a surgery date. Wls is not an easy way out, it is a battle with a tool. I hope that you are prepared, and confident. Jitters can come even when you are fully prepared. I was personally not scared at all. I had peace with God about my surgery and the support of my family. I made sure I had no bitterness with anyone else prior to surgery so I had no fear of dying, but was safe in the hands of my Savior. He choose success for me, and I am thankful, but if He had taken me home, it was a choice I knew I could die with. Be sure you are ready for the changes and that your "stuff" is in order. It is a big surgery. Take care. Patricia P.

That sounds like quite a sudden change for you. I think it's normal to be a little overwhelmed. Make sure you're ready mentally. Take your vitamins - preop as well. and I would read over the food lists and go shopping for what you can eat post op. Good luck! I'll be thinking of you.

I'm encouraged that you are able to verbalize this. I'm one step behind you, waiting insurance. Afraid? You bet! I'm worried that I won't be able to follow the guidelines, will cheat, etc, etc. I read some of the posts and about people not losing weight or gaining. I go to a support group through my Dr. office, and there are wonderful people there that are also encouraging. So, I wish you luck, strength, and great results! Sue S.

THis is very normal! I went for my last appt for 6 month diet on December 1, 2006. My surgeons office submitted to insurance on December 4. I got the call on December 6 that I was approved and had surgery on December 8. Talk about fast!! I was walking around in a daze for 2 days, just shocked. But I waited for 6 months because I started the process on May 31, 2006. Get ready for a wild ride but I am still enjoying it, it is the best thing to lose the weight and be healthy for once!! Angela

any time you are not afraid of having surgery or at least nervous THEN there would be something abnoraml about you I work for a bariatric center and I almost have a panic attack everytime I have had to go to sleep. It is perfectly normal, pray about it then let it go , pray and let God do your worrying for you.
