Question:
Upon eating, my tongue has a white coating?
It doesn't matter what I eat, it starts as soon as I swallow anything. My Doctor's office thought it might be thrush mouth, however, that was not the case and seems to be related to the digestion process. — ironside (posted on May 30, 2007)

I was dehydrated, had an ulcer & a stricture about 4 weeks post-op; and
I was hospitalized. They also tested me for a yeast infection in my mouth
and throat this is common with our WLS. You also want them to test you for
the H-pi lori virus; this causes ulcer of a serious nature. Do not take the
first answer you get; this is your life!! Keep on top of this it is very
important. Good Luck, Sincerely, Judy R

Same thing happened to me. It's not thrush. I was told to use my
toothbrush to "scrape" it off and it should go away within a few
days. If not, have the doctor check into it more. Mine did go away within
2 days and it felt good to "brush" my tongue. Good luck!

It's called foaming-it just your bodies way of sending up digestive
juices-mine felt like hair on my tongue sometimes.
you'll be okay-how long ago did you have your surgery? If it was
recent-expect it to last like 6 weeks after surgery, even longer. Generally
you should be okay. I did brush mine..and it didn't really help. The trick
for me was drinking a bit of hot (however hot you can stand) water before
and after your meals. It should break it up.

I had the same thing, I went and bought a tongue cleaner at the store,
they're really cheap, and used it for a few days. I had almost immediate
relief. Good luck. Sheryl H

I had the same thing. My doctor checked for thrush but found nothing. She
said it's was most likely related to my body being in ketosis. It went
away on its own after a few weeks. Just hang in there. This too will
pass.
