Question:
Does anyone know the BEST or RIGHT time of day to weigh yourself?
I weigh myself daily to keep myself in check. However, I work all night from 7p to 7a and when I weigh before I go to sleep the scale says 152. By the time I've slept 8 hours and wake up to shower and start my night again, I'm 2 to 3 pounds less. So I never know what my actual or correct weight is. I keep a journal of the foods I eat throughout the day and my daily weight in regards to those foods. I understand fluid shifts and circulation in the body - just wondering what time of day to believe - Mornings or Evenings. I'm dying to know the answer to this question or your experiences with measuring your weight. (and Yes. I weigh myself in the buff - God forbid I'm 1/2# more because of my clothes and shoes! LOL!) — CHARLYLVN (posted on July 31, 2006)

Well since you're 2-3 lbs less in the morning, I'd go by that number. LOL.
Just my opinion. Heehee. =o)

Hi Charlotte! I agree, morning is my best time for weighing, right after I
go potty. It's also a good reality check, if my weight is a little bit up,
the guilt feelings will keep me from cheating all day. Yes, I also weigh
myself in my birthday suit, possibly because I was frightened by a scale
when I was a kid. Remember the ones in the drugstore that told you to
allow 20 pounds for your clothing? Yeesh! What did they think we were
wearing, a full suit of armor? Good luck! May your shadow never increase!

I also weigh in the morning. I have also noticed that if I weigh after
going potty at times it is lower; which I like cause it tells me what my
body weighs without extra liquid (body mass is what I think of it). I
believe the only way to weigh yourself it in the buff; which I could do it
at the doctors. lol I don't what any extra poundage on that old scale. Have
a great day!! Laural

Hi,
I've always heard in general, that the best time to weigh to get your most
accurate weight is first thing in the morning. Be it weather your morning
is at night or in the actual morning hours. So my guess would be after you
have slept, take your weight and go with that. Before you eat the first
meal of "your day". Have a great day/evening. Jean

Wow... Stay focused!
You are on track, always check your weight after a full rest of sleeping,
getting up taking a ladies room break, brush your teeth, get de-clothed...
:O) Jump on the scale.
If you have one of those fancy scales that tells your body fat%
I encourage you all to get one... Coming from self distruction of losing an
obese mind then only to gain weight. I have now been taught the importance
of being teachable.
I now look at my body fat% and I have stopped paying so much attention to
the #'s on the scale.
I am 127 pounds, I wear a size 2 and a 3 juniors... I have a very lean
body... I eat well, I get more than enough protein in and I am very much
full of energy!
from 327 to 125 and a figure competitior...
Now it is about body fat and not the number...
Ok so here it is... Your weight will be most accurate in the awakening of
the body after a good session of sleep.
Your body fat% is going to most accurate in the evening when your water %
is up... Now with that said...
Water should be between 55% and 60% to get a close reading of body fat%. If
the water is low the accuracy of body fat will be higher... Your weight
will always be higher at night!
Please get you water hydration levels up...
hugs to everyone and keep your dreams alive

So far, most of these people have ignored the fact that you work NIGHTS!
Weigh first thing when you get up, NAKED AND EMPTY! That means get up, go
to bathroom, empty yourself, and weigh. Then eat, drink, etc.
Since you work nights, your morning is our evening . . . just flip our
schedule.

As long as you a consistant on the time when you weigh your scale will show
you how you are doing....

Hiya!

I would go with the lesser number. I mean,
obviously we aren't one exact weight all day, every day. I feel that
psychologically it's better to go with the lower number...looks better and
makes you feel better, even if it's only the difference between a couple
lbs.

Happy losing!

Winnie

I weigh myself when I get up, but it does not matter as long as you
consistently weigh yourself at the same time every day.
