From what I hear, about 3/4 of patients lose some hair. I have started Biotin supplements to prepare for surgery after hearing of others using it to help prevent and regain loss. I have already seem improvement in hair strengh, length, and thickness in less than 2 months. I have also read of similar results in post-op patients. Hope this helps and Good luck!

I did a little bit. What I use is nioxin shampoo and Cleanser scalp treatment. I also take women's hair, nails and skin vitamins from GNC. Up your protein and biotin, I hope that helps you. Kemalani

I have very curly hair and really noticed it started to fall out at about 3 months until about 7 months. I use the Nixoin Hair shampoo and took boiton(1000mcg x3 ) a day and got a lot of protien in very day . At 7months it has stopped. My hair grew in as fast it fell out so only I was the one to notice...mostly in the shower I saw it. Good Luck hope this helps you

I am 3 years post op. I started at about 9 mos post op with hair loss..I cut my hair a bit shorter and then made sure to get adequate protein. It helped. Now this far out I notice it happening again..so I am stepping up my protein intake. Gotta keep that protein high!

No, not everyone experiences hair loss. I am 17 months post-op, and I reached my goal weight very quickly, losing 171 lbs. in only 11 months. I have been diligent about my protein intake, my vitamin supplements and my fluid intake. The hardest one is the fluid, and sometimes I fail, but most of the time I manage. I have never experienced hair loss, and I attribute that and my weight loss success to my diligence in following the rules set out by my surgeon who, by the way, is wonderful. You know, even when things in life aren't going so well, being thin and feeling physically and psychologically better makes EVERYTHING better. Good luck everyone!
