I work together doing wls for another surgeon who does procedures, and he
said this of your sitation, that most overweight folks have livers that
have not correctly metabolised fat for a very long time, but as your weight
drops off and you upgrade your exercise youe tests will reveal more
positive results ( in time)
Oh by the way before I had qwightloss surgery, I clearly remeber the Dr
looking at my liver function results and asked me if I drank alcohol, I
told him I am a teatotaller and he said I had a fatty liver that related to
my (then) obesity. However after 10years BPD my levels are great now, but
it took them a while to settle down. About 3 years I think.
I would be interested to hear more from you. I am sure will be a great
success.

I was just reading your question and i was wondering what type of lupus do
you have? I was diagnosed with Discoid Lupus 8 years ago. Have you ever
been on Meds for the lupus? Now you have me wondering about this as well.
I hope things go well for your surgery and that everything tests out ok.
Hope to hear back from you

Haven't had wls yet, but I had an ultrasound to rule out gallstones ...
Seems I do have gallstones and a fatty liver too. The doctor also asked me
if I drink alcohol, and I don't. Guess it's fairly typical for an obese
person to deposit fat in the liver and that wls will help.

I had elevated liver enzymes before my surgery, and my general md was ready
to say no to my surgery until it was resolved. I freaked out! I had been
taking quite a bit of tylenol for headaches, since I couldn't take NSAIDS
before surgery. I stopped taking it, we did more blood tests and a liver
CAT scan, and voila! No problems. It was the tylenol! Hope yours turns
out to be a simple solution. I've heard fatty liver is common among MO
people, not just those who have had surgery. But I don't know what is done
to help with that. Good luck with this.

All my test have now come back totally normal within one week. In answer to
previous poster, I have systemic Lupus and I am on meds, but was told the
the Plaquenil would not raise the Liver Enzymes and since the scan was
clear it is not autoimmune liver disease. In the previous months I was
having a lot of pain from adhesions and was taking Tylenol on pretty
regular basis and I wonder if that may have had something to do with the
liver enzymes being up, though I doubt it since they went quickly back to
normal. My doctor's don't have any answer for me either, only to not worry
because it is fine now. The abdominal/liver scan came back clear, no
problem and no fatty liver disease. My hepatitis tests came back negative.

Milk Thistle a couple times a day... Google it and see what you think.
I've been taking it and my levels have normalized. Not really sure if it's
because of the milk thistle or because my weight has been steady for a
couple years now.
