First thing you should do is talk to your PCP.....if your insurance does
not require that you get a refferal then your next step will be to see
which doctors your insurance carrier will cover. Ask them for a reference
or maybe go online and research some doctors in your area.....if you have
anymore questions feel free to email me.....

Hi Christy,
If you look under insurance then CA, you will find people with your same
insurance, it looked to me like alot of them were approved. I have BCBS of
Texas, and they will give you over the phone the critieria for WLS, one of
the things most insurance companies now require is a Dr. suppervised weight
loss program in the last 2 years for either 6 or 12 consecutive months. I
would call customer service and ask what are the critieria they use to make
a decision, they should give it to you. Also might depend on what co-morb
you have, with diabetes, high blood pressure-hypertension, and sleep apnea
being the top ones. Make sure you have documentation on everything, as that
seems to be the most important. I have been getting everything together for
the last 2 months, best of luck to you, hopefully we will both be on the
losing side soon lol ! Jen RNY-320-soon ;)
