Question:
Has anyone lost weight with the Carbohydrate Addict's Diet?

I am 3yrs post op. I've lost a total of 130lbs, but could stand to lose another 20-25lbs. I've tried to stick to a modified version of the Atkins Diet since WLS, but I get bored with the food choices. Has anyone tried the Carbohydrate Addict's Diet/Lifestyle and lost weight? I'm not looking for a diet, but I am considering altering my lifestyle if others have had success with this plan post WLS.    — Alicia K. (posted on January 9, 2006)

The Carbohydrate Addict's Diet was my last attempt at losing weight before I made the decision to have WLS. I lost about 35lbs, but regained about 25 of that due to problems with my thyroid. It is a good, reasonable plan to follow.

Congrats on the 130 lbs!! I am almost 3 years post-op myself and sould like to lose another 20 to 30 lbs also. I know that I could if I would just work out. I have not worked out since I had the surgery. I lost 160 lbs and that seems to be as far as the surgery will take me with out me making effort. Last month I was very active and without changing my diet I dropped 6 pounds and 1 1/2 inches from my waist. Have you worked out? That seems to help for me. Have you had any problems being this far post-op? Email me @ [email protected] so we can compare stories. Good Luck, D'Juana

I am 3 1/2 years post and I find that the South Beach Plan is fabulous. You should look at that one. I never tried the Card Addicts Diet.

I am 11 yrs out, rny very distal. I think this is a GREAT book, as far as explaining our disease. I live more of a South Beachy approach, personally, but do consiblerly more in protein supplements than most people. Because you are 2+ years out, I would recommend the Graduate list, as many of us have issues with regain or just holding our wt where we'd like it. I am doing the southbeach right now, but to tell you the truth the plan is easy, but my problem is that I can't stand the meat anymore. I like meat when I am eating regularly, but I guess the overload of meats for a low carb diet gags me. You and I are in the same boat. I need to lose about 25 more pounds, but my scale will not budge under 150. Let me know if you have success on the carbohydrate Addict's lifestyle book. I haven't heard of it, but I am willing to try it. I get married in June, and it seems like I can't loose anymore weight no matter what I do. I'm 5'1, so 155 pounds is still pretty pudgy! Good luck...
