Question:
What to eat ????
At 8 months out of RNY can I get some suggestions on what to eat for breakfast, lunch, dinner and snacks. I know I am not getting enough food in or protein. Just how much should I be eating. I just keep losing weight when I do not want to lose anymore. I know it's because I'm not eating enough. I can't eat very much at a time. Any meal ideas would be helpful. Thanks. — cuppaloopy (posted on September 13, 2010)

Have you tried EAS low carb shakes? The are avaiable at walmart or sam's
club. They are really good. Also, the group I go to they eat string
cheese. How many calories are you eating? My dr suggests 1200 calories
for my 5'4", so depending on your height - you can add.

I'm 6 months post-op RNY. I usually eat greek yogurt, a boiled egg,
scrambled egg beaters, or half a whole wheat bagel thin with low fat cream
cheese for breakfast. For lunch, I typically eat some deli turkey slices
(low or reduced fat), some low or reduced fat cheese, and a few grapes (if
I'm not full) or some ricotta cheese (low fat) with some spaghetti sauce or
a small piece of tilapia. Dinner normally consists of some kind of baked
fish, beans, baked chicken (I tolerate dark meat best), some kind of veggie
(if I'm not full). Snacks are usually cheese, yogurt, fruit, nuts (almonds
are the only ones I can tolerate and I only eat 1/2 a serving), or some
cottage cheese with a little sugar free jam. I can also eat Wendy's chili
anytime! Hope this helps!

Hi,
I am in the same boat as you were, however, I really do not like to tell
you what I do because I feel I shouldn't be giving advice. But my NUT told
me to eat more smaller meals with complex carbs. I am staying at 125 lbs
and it was a struggle to keep that weight. I think you should ask your NUT
and Dr. With all these smaller meals I am eating, I monitor my weight all
the time. I am afraid of gaining a lot of weight.

if you are at goal you should be eating 4-5 lil meals if you can't do a big
3...then make sure what you eatis prrotein first...eat calorie rich foods
but not junk. I eat 1300 cals a day to maintain wheni do not work out or
walk and 1500 a day when i do. i eat my meals and snacks plus an eas shake
or some other protein drink and one of my meals is a protein bar..this plus
the fodds i eat give me about 60+ grams,. I personally eat 4 ounces at a
meal. It works for me. I wanted to stop at 130 and stopped at 115 but
allowed myself to gain up to 120. Today i am 115 and staying there. Egg
beaters and wheat toast, or a slice of ham n eggs, lunch is uaually th
protein bar, dinner is anything i want, but always healthy and packed full
of nutrients..hardly no starches and i do not eat salad..waste of space and
lil nutrients..theni have a snack which can be anything from yogurt to sf
pudding, to oatmeal..best of luck to you! sounds like you've done very
well! hugs,kim
