Question:
I have hit a Plateau...What am I doing wrong???
I know that we will all hit a plateau. I dropped 61 lbs already since 9/25 but I cannot get the scale to move. Is there something that Ineed to do that I may not be doing? HELP!!! — Sunshine626 (posted on January 24, 2010)

How long have you gone since losing? One thing we were told at our support
group meeting is that a plateau is when you don't lose for 3 weeks minimum.
I remember the first one I hit a couple of weeks after surgery. What I
realized was that even though I wasn't losing weight I was losing inches.
Just know that your body has to keep up with the weight loss and has to
just take time to rest. The weight loss will start up again. Promise!
Keep up the good work and let your body do what it has to do and before you
know it you will start losing weight again. I know it can be discouraging
but your body just needs to adjust.

Plateau's... U R going to hit them. Trust me. They suck, but they are your
new reality. What I did when I hit a plateau. 1.)increased my protein. 2.
)increased my water intake. 3.) ate by the cardinal rule from my NUT - for
every 100 calories, only 3 grams of fat and 6 grams of sugar and finally -
EXERCISE!! For me, when I would hit a plateau --- I would change up, switch
up my exercise routine. Keeping my body "working" and not
adjusting to what I was doing. Also, if the scale wasn't moving - I would
keep an eye on my waistline. Most of the plateau's I hit in weight loss was
accompanied by inch loss. Don't get discouraged. Plateau's happen. I would
get in a rut (food/exercise) and I saw a plateau as my bodies way of saying
--- "hey! I am bored --- let's shake things up". I would. I did.
It helped. Hope it helps you. Best of luck and congrats on the 61lbs. My
surgiversary is coming up on 2/15/10 - it will be 3 years (still cannot
believe it's been that long - seems just like yesterday). My original
heaviest of all time 286lbs in a size 26/28 pants, 18/20 top. At the height
of my weight loss, coupled with an intestinal infection, I went down to
143lbs in a size 4 pants, Xsmall top. But I was unhealthy. Very thin. (I am
5'8"). I was in and out of the hospital with this intestinal infection
- viral. It had to run it's course out of my body. After 7 months, it
finally did. I am a happy, healthy 165lbs in a size 8-10 pants, small/med
top.
