I was told that BCBS now has a 3 month (starting July 2009) period instead
of 6 months. You could look into that. Not sure how it would work for
private health Insurance.

What do you mean exactly, "health insurance pulled out"? Did your
company change providers, did you lose your health insurance? Chances are
if you don't have the same provider for whatever reason you will have to
begin the process from square one.

Yes, BCBS switched to a 3 month period, if you lost insurance altogether,
are you eligible for medicaid? Look into these and it should go pretty
quick!

I would think you would be able to pick up right where you left off,
"because" you didn't have a gap or longer than 6 months prior to
getting new insurance. If there was a lapse, then you need to start all
over. From my understanding when I had blue sheild, that was the protocol.
If you don't have insurance now, and would be self paid, not through an
employeer, then you need to find some fast before you do have that lapse.
Hope this helps. Otherwise, the new insurance can say well, these are
"pre existing conditions, which just means you have been 6 months or
more without medical treatment, so No, they won't cover you. It gets pretty
tricky. Pre existing doesn't mean what it sounds like. They just mean
without medical treatment. Not that you have these or this condition now.

I don't know what you mean by "health insurance pull out" but if
they had approved you for surgery before "pulling out" then I
think they may still be contractually obligated to cover the surgery.
