How many weeks post op are you? If you can tolerate it, then it might be
okay...I eat about 4oz. of cream of wheat with a whole banana in the am
without any problems. I try not to ever eat that many ounces with lunch or
dinner. This is my personal opinion but I think because its liquid, its
tolerated more than 6 oz of solid. Again, my personal opinion and I am 2
months post op today.....Hope that helps. Do you have a nutritionist to
speak to?

Good Morning, I having am almost 3 months out and I have been yogurt and a
banana for some time now. The only thing is I take my time eating it and
should I become full I stop. I think it is all up to you on how much you
can tolerate.

it's not too much but bananas are a little carb-y. i would opt for
something a little higher in protein.

You really should curb your carbs. Only eat 1/4-1/2 of the banana. Remember
if your are an RNY patient....you do not want to stretch your pouch.....

I am 15 months post op and eat only 4 oz at a meal but I haev 4-5 meals a
day. The yogurt is good for you, but the banana is not beneficial if you
are early out. I doubt I could eat a whole one now. Don't eat cuz you think
you have to, eat the right stuff until you feel good then stop. Talk to nut
about the amounts you should be eating to lose weight at your amount of
time out of surgery. Best of luck and God Bless, Kim

I do have a whole babana but I put blend it in my protein shake because of
the potassium content. My doctor told me that I need it to do this because
I tested low in potassium, now the level is great. Sometimes I also put
yogurt and my babana with the protein but I make sure I drink half in the
morning and the other half late afternoon.
Good luck!!

Yogurt is a slider food and goes down very easy...so make sure it's lower
fat or no fat! That can add extra calories that you don't need...Plus if
you are using the typical store yogurt, it is usually loaded with added
sugar...and you might try plain greek yogurt which has 4 times the protein
than regular yogurts (no added sugar, just the naturally occuring lactose
sugar) and add your own NSA preserves, or pureed fruit and your choice of
sweetener!
A little trick I learned too is that when buying bananas, I buy the smaller
ones now and then I know I am eating less than I could (I can eat a large
banana easily) but I feel satisfied if all I have is a small one! Bananas
have a lot of natural sugar, but the nutrition far outweighs that...I eat
one almost daily for years post op! Hope that helps
