You need to sip water or sugar free popsicles can be your best friend. They
are wonderful and they will sit on your stomach great. I had every 15
minutes a small, tiny cup of clear broth. after a few days you will go to a
creamed broth like cream of chicken soup but strain in and to get all the
chicken out. You will need to sip as much water as possible trust me you
won't feel like it but do it anyway because the more water you can get down
the better your body will be and it will help tremendously with your bowell
movements. I know they say protein drinks too, but i did not have much luck
with those but all will get better with time.I ate sugar free jello, sugar
free puddings really the NUT should give you some type of diet to go by
hopefully they did. If you have gas try laying on your side to try and
relieve some of that. You will start eating different foods later and it
will be trial and error. If they get stuck you will probably throw it up and
you will feel better. It will all be new but honestly you will get thru it.
Hope you do well.

I made high protein popcycles with my drinks for a snack. They really help
keep my protein levels up throughout the day.

Are you talking short-term or long-term after surgery. In the short term
you should follow your doctor's recommendations for reintroducing foods.
After 12-16 weeks and after you've lost about 90% of your excess weight you
can eat pretty much a normal diet with an emphasis first on protien. Just
don't get back into any bad eating habits.

I eat pretty much anything I want. I never eat sugar and rarely eat white
flour, but I took the time while losing(9-10 months) to re evaluate how I
thought about food and was determined not to regain weight and not to get
back into old eating habits. I know what triggers me, and avoid it. But
otherwise I eat anything I want as long as it is sugar free. I do eat
mostly protein. My first few bites are always protein. My meals are 4
ounces still. I am maintaining fine now at 13 months out. Best of luck to
you ! hugs, Kim

I am five and a half years out and I eat whatever I want. I am satisfied
with just a few bites, 1/2 sandwich, to 1 cup of food. I believe the secret
is to eat small like that all day long. You have to fuel your body to
metabolize. I haven't gained an oz. My surgeon told me on my first post op
visit that I have to eat for this surgery to work and to stay away from
protein drinks as they are made to bulk you up.
