Question:
Need Physician for Maintenance
I had my RNY surgery in May of 2006 with Dr. Homan in White Plains (I live in Long island) , followed in 10 days by surgery for blocked intestine (too much scar tissue formed) followed by double bacterial pneumonia. On July 4th of that year, my surgeon was killed in a plane crash. I have never had a follow up in all that time. The remaining physicians from his office would never return a phone call. My question is, are there any physicians out there in Long Island who would agree to see me on a continued follow-up basis? — ggladstone (posted on June 22, 2009)

I would think that any doctor in that office that is on call and they are
still in your insurance network would and should be able to do a post-op
follow up. Just tell the receptionist what happened and that you just need
a follow up because you have had some issues and the doctor wanted you to
see him, but he past away. Can they please help you! Or if not, then any
doctor in your insurance network. (call your insur co and find out who you
can see) Keep bugging them and calling them and tell them your situation.
Don't give up. I always tell my doctors that I pay them to help me. That
is why they get paid the big bucks. LOL Tell them, "you are supposed
to help people and you are not helping me". Why??? Be sort of
demanding but still polite yet firm. Let me know how it goes. You can
email my profile. Best wishes to you
