Is muscle milk a good choice for a protein shake?

The whole 14 oz bottle has a bit of sugar to drink for one shake and
calories. Strawberry and/or banana are my fav's so what I do is add 4 ozs
of milk with 1 full scoop of either vanilla or plain protein powder for the
full 30 gr of protein, and add 1/2 cup of your favorite muscle milk, add
ice and blend it. There you get the 30 grams from the powder, plus 4 grams
from milk, and the extra 7 grams for the 1/2 Cup of muscle milk for a total
of 41 grams of delicious protein. By using 1/2 C, you get a great taste
and can get 3.5 shakes from 1 bottle of the muscle milk.

I've been using the Muscle Milk Light (44% fewer calories). Two scoops in
water provides 195 calories, 11 g. carbs and 25 grams of protein, plus 35%
of a ton of vitamins and minerals. AND it tastes delicious. I blend it in
my "Magic Bullet" mixer (another great tool) with a couple of ice
cubes. Both the chocolate and vanilla are very good. I've also used one
scoop in 8 oz of skim milk. No aftertaste at all. GNC has had specials on
this product; also drugstore.com often runs specials. Sometimes you can get
it at almost 1/2 off plus free shipping. Check the website.

When I inqired about Muscle Milk with my nutritionist, she said that
drinking it was not a good idea due to the high amount of carbs. She said
Muscle Milk is used to gain weight.

My nutritionist said the Light was fine - met the guidelines of under 200
calories per serving and greater than 14 grams protein. Just be sure to
stay away from the regular, which is about 350 calories, 17 grams of carbs
and 17 grams of FAT. In the end, though, you need to ask your
doctor/nutritionist because guidelines vary among surgeons and you should
follow what your own particular doctor and his staff recommend.

It tastes great, but it's not my fav choice for protein because of all the
extra vitamins and there is something in it that gives me a wicked
bellyache, despite being lactose tolerable! I love the taste though! It
only has 16 carbs...so it's perfect for after workouts! (if I was not
senstive to it...It would be my first choice for flavor...and for work
outs) It's more like a meal replacement than a protein supplement...I do
not use protein as a meal replacement...I personally want my vitamins and
protein separate...As suggested in it's name "muscle" milk...This
is GREAT for feeding muscles after a good work out!
