Please check out BariatricFusion.com. I love these because I don't have to
chew 6 more calcium pills in addition to just 4 vits chews a day...no need
for iron either...My labs are perfect so far though I am only 4 1/2 months
out rny.

I use a liquid vitamin called NHR. High potency in one fluid ounce, tastes
like apple cider, high in antioxidants, etc. I got tired of bad tasting
chewables or taking so many pills per day. The NHR actually has 2 gr of
protein, 15% RDA of calcium citrate, and 150% of your daily D. I had poor D
results on my initial labs post op. MY PCP put me on script D, and after 24
weeks, I the highest level of 3 tests was a 14. I went on the liquid
vitamins (600 IU per dose) and in 2 months my labs showed D levels at 33.
My profile story speaks about my D issues and the NHR vitamins. Many post
ops in my support groups also get excellent labs using this particular
liquid vitamin. DAVE

Your surgeon or nut should have a list of just what you need. Then you can
start reading labels and be sure to look at all the other supplements you
take. In my case I found that some of the ones on the market for us have
too much of some things, not enough of others. When I sat down and counted
everything else I take, it turns out I do fine with a kid's gummy one from
Target. (Please note that I did my homework and everybody takes diff stuff
so it's not for everyone!) My surgeon runs the usual bloodtests on me and
all of my levels have been just fine.

I take 2 Viactiv chewable multivitamins a day. They are chocolate flavored
and are much better than flintstones! My surgeon was the one who
recommended them.

There are none. The best vitamins for any of us after RNY are based SOLELY
AND COMPLETELY on your labs. Your labs dictate what are the best vitamins
for you...If I had to pick a best multi vitamin...it would be Bariatric
Advantage because their formula is the best forms of bioavailable vitamins
for the RNY anatomy and in good doses for the RNYer...But you still need to
take Calcium Citrate with Vit D3 seperately as well as Iron in the form of
Carbonyl Iron if you are a menstruating woman. You need B-12 as a
sublingual, spray or shots. Kids vitamins do not have all the adult
vitamins or the right doses to last long term...Anyone who thinks they do
are only a walking time bomb for deficiencies according to studies that
show by year 3-5, 75% of RNYers ON SUPPLEMENTS become vitamin deficent if
not malnourished or anemic as well. Go online to the US National Library of
Medicine and National Institute of Health and read the studies done on
RNY... You will be amazed informed and awakened! LABS are the ONLY thing
that dictates what your vitamins should be...So many people believe their
surgeons or doctors are running all their vitamin labs and trusting blindly
that they are when they are NOT! Get copies and look at them
closely...When I found out I was anemic...I learned because my Hemoglobin
and Hemocrit levels were low (routine blood test for anyone)...SO doc ran
Iron and Iron binding and Ferritin levels too to find out I was Iron
deficiency anemic as well as B-12 to see if it was pernicuous (B-12 causing
the anemia)......But when i took my medical records home to look at my
other vitamin levels...I realized that in 5 years NO ONE ran ALL of my
vitamin levels! Not preop or post op! Not my surgeon..not my PCP! I
demanded they run each vitamin for me and my doc was SHOCKED to find I was
quite malnourished...I hand her a list of the labs I want her to run every
6 months since! She has NO trouble with that either! I was chewing adult
vitamin chewables and they didn't protect me from vitamin def and
anemia...LABS did! I prevent deficiencies now with labs! There is NO
perfect, take-one-tablet/liquid/chewable for all RNYers...Liquid vitamins
make REALLY Huge claims that are NOT backed by science...Taking 2 Childrens
vitamins for life after RNY is just plain sad to me...We have malabsorption
of fats and nutrients...and believing that taking kids vitamins is not
going to prevent deficiencies is just naive. They are formulated for kids
and do not even INCLUDE all the the adult vits we need! Even taking 2!
Read studies...GET LABS!!! Supplement according to labs...I have not found
the perfect vitamin formula yet...I already know it doesn't
exist...Vitamins are as unique to each individual as hair and eye color,
size and height, weight and sex, disease and health...etc! There is NO
best vitamin! Trust that and get labs! Take whatever multi vit you want...I
go for an adult one that is formulated for RNY...So far that is BA and I
found Tarder Joe's High Potency Adult chewable is RNY compatible as well!
Not as high in the B vits aand is missing Vit K...But not a bad choice as
far as just taking SOMETHING extra along with getting my labs and taking
the other vitamins you need to take seperately on a schedule all dang day!
Do some research before you trust those that say they have good labs taking
kids chewables...That's nice and okay for a year MAYBE 2...Then half these
people taking kiddie vits are also asked to limit their dietary calories to
only 1000 a day and limit or cut out important amounts of nutrient rich
complex carbohydrates and EXPECTED to stay healthy! RIDICULOUS! ...
