Don't worry, you are feeling normal in my opinion. I felt the same way for
almost 6 weeks after my surgery. I had the RnY Nov. 18th and would not
trade it for anything now. This is not an easy route to take, but I can
promise you it will get better. Are you having problems with your surgery?
Which surgery did you have? Hang in there.

I understand how you feel! I have had a problem with drinking and eating
also but I promise you, it will get better. Your system will recover from
the surgery and little by little you will be able to rejoice that you had
this surgery. Just remember to do everything that your surgeon told you to
do and SLOWLY!!! My lap RNY was 4/30/08 and I have lost 115 lbs! I now
weigh 112 and wear a size 0-2 from a stretched-out size 22! I had two
hernia repairs with my gastric bypass so maybe that I why I am so
"delicate" around food? I am so grateful that I did it! If you
want to contact me, please do. Rena at [email protected]. Good
Luck!

You will get better, it can take up to 6 to 8 weeks then it subsides. See
if the doc will give you meds for the nausea.
If it persists and you still can't eat; let the doc know, you don't want to
run the risk of malnutrition. Good Luck and God Bless,

I completely understand. It's normal to feel buyer remorse. I'm nearly 3
months out. I feel pain and discomfort. Being nauseated all the time
bites. I feel like I made the biggest mistake of my life but I'm coming to
terms that once I get better it will be okay. I'm just on the wait and see
side. Anytime you need to vent, please email me. I often see so many
positive comments I wonder if anyone else feels the way I do. It's great
that there are positive comments but sometimes I would like to hear how
horrible someone feels so that I know I'm not alone. Terrible I know but
somehow it makes it seem bearable that I'm not an oddity. Did they give
you medication for nausea? I got medication for nausea and it made me
worse off. I finally threw the bottle away so my husband would stop
suggesting it. Have you tried gas-x to help? Sometimes that makes things
better. Biggest some of the nausea might be from gas. That's the biggest
contributor to nausea after surgery. Try and see if it helps. I normally
take 2 gas-x strips at the same time when it gets bad. I hope this helps.
Don't feel alone. Lots of us have been in your very shoes feeling the very
same thing. Hugs and Keep posting. Corina

Hi Michele, I went to your page to mail you but it's blank. So I wanted to
say that I have just recently asked about this Nausea and Vomiting I hear
so much about because silly or not , THAT is my biggest fear after surgery,
and folks just kept telling me it would be minimal if at all. My sister had
to resort to the suppositories to stop the
N & V. Because like the one lady on here said the pills made her worse
and she threw them out.Because I haven't had my RNY yet this is all I can
say is what my sister told me.But my heart went out to you because I fear
the N&V. Note* She also said it only lasted a few weeks and she has now
lost 130#'s.
You may reach me at [email protected] or my OH page any time you want
to vent or talk or update ME on what I can expect. :) Good luck to you and
God Bless. Renee

I can't speak for anyone else but when I hit the 8 wek mark and still
thought I had made the worse decision of my life I sought out a counselor.
Well really the dr's office recommended I see one, I had some unexpected
problems, stomas, and one or another from the office was calling daily.
Looking back I think they were making things up so there would be frequent
calls but it's neither here nor there. I think regret is easy and expected
while the n/Vis so strong and I wouldn't worry but if you physically start
to heal and you still can't deal with the changes I'd consider a counselor.
MY Rny was 4/15/08, I still see the counselor once a month - down from
once a week when I was struggling the worst. I know I can come here and
get the dirty from others but sometimes we lack the perspective of the
world outside of a WLS life.

Hi Michelle,
I am so sorry you and some others are having problems. Froathing is caused
by your food not going into your pouch right. Try making sure what you eat
has a watery consistancy. This makes it easier to go down. I had this
problem, and my Dr. said water down what I eat. It worked. But I also stick
to things I can eat that doesn't make me sick. I eat a lot of cottage
cheese, re-fried beans from taco bell, chili from wendy's, and scrambled
eggs with cheese.
I do hope you will get to feeling better real soon, and you will be glad
you had the WLS. I will keep you and the others in my prayers.
Hugs to feeling better

Ask your doctor about the B1 injection. Because I was told by my doctor
many people who get the injection say the frothing or foaming has gone down
to little or none. I am getting mine done tomorrow because I am going
through that right now. I dont have too much nausea just the foaming thick
mucus spit. lol sorry i know its nasty. It is normal to go through
thinking it is a mistake but also remember that kind of thinking can
sabotage you, just stick with your diet as best you can, if you cant eat
drink the shakes. Good luck.

Give it time. It will all get better. Not everything works the same for
everyone.
I had WLS on 12-10/08, no complications so far but wouldn't trade my
decision for the world. carolcooper

Hi Michelle! I had my surgery Nov 30, 07 and I was so sick the whole month
of December that year I had to wonder if I'd EVER feel good again. But
trust me, you will feel better, even GREAT in the future. Now that I've
lost 135+ pounds everything is great, although I still, every now and then,
have 'stomach issues'. Just listen to your body and your doctor and you'll
be okay. Your body is going through a huge change---and you are too. I
loved this site and the people who visit each day, it was always so helpful
and comforting to know I wasn't alone in what I was going through. Good
luck to you and keep a positive attitude.

I did not have that problem and have only gotten sick 5 times since my RNY
on 10/20/08. I know they say I'm lucky, but what I can tell you is what
has worked for me... CHEW, CHEW, CHEW. Don't drink when you eat. Small
quantities of food, and I stay away from red meat as it is harder on me
personally. I'm down 71 pounds, and feel super...and trust me, you will
soon feel the same. Good luck!

It's really early for you yet. I was really really prepared for the
surgery, wanted it SO BAD and fought to have it for a year - and yet the
first two months after surgery were sooooo difficult and I struggled a lot
with depression & feeling like I may have done the wrong thing. Be
patient, take care of yourself, make sure your taking any medications you
need (for instance I got very careless about taking my depression
medication because I had a hard time swallowing and in the end it made me
even more depressed -- something I hate to see happen to anyone else). Make
sure you're drinking. When you're having a hard time don't worry about
counting calories or anything like that, just stay hydrated and stay away
from anything that makes you sick. Try to get in some protein. Give
yourself some TLC & some time. I am 10-1/2 mos out and I am SOOOOO
HAPPY - I feel so great, like a new person. I have a ways to go but I
already know that I will never regret this even if I "almost" did
for the first month or so.
