Question:
what is a banded RNY
SOMEONE SAID THEY HAD A BANDED RNY WHAT IS THAT. — LBowker (posted on December 21, 2008)

I'm guessing. A person out-eats the RNY surgery and years later get their
pouch banded. This sounds wrong to me. If the tool was mistreated the
first time. It seems like it would be likely the second time as well.

The first poster is essentially correct in her assumption. The Banded RNY
is a RNY that has a Lap band attached for when the pouch expands at a later
date. It is, for all intents and purposes, an insurance policy. If the
Gastric Bypass alone is NOT enough, they fill the band to create an extra
restriction. I hope that this answers your question. Hugh
