Question:
I've been on a plateau for almost 3 weeks!! ARGGG
I had RNY WLS on 7/25/08 and to date I've went from 354 to my current 270. I've been on a stall for about 3 weeks now, and i was just wondering is there anything more i can do [I'm eating right and exercising my butt off!] HELP! — nubiangodess624 (posted on October 31, 2008)

I am the stall queen! My advise is, go to almost all protein, for a while,
cut carbs out. Measure yourself, as during my stalls I was constantly
losing inches. If you stay on track, your body will eventually give it up!
I stalled for two and a half months, month 5 to almost month 7. I had to
really get real with what I was eating. I was trying to eat like a regular
person but tiny amounts. Can't do it! Also, you are probably building
some muscle, which will burn more calories and make u lose faster in the
long run. Just hang in there! You've lost a great deal of weight in a
short time, and your body has to adjust!! Good luck!

Your Body may be taking a little rest right now. Don't weigh yourself
constantly, and try not to focus on the scale. Look how for you have come.
That's awsome. People think wls is an easy fix, but those of us who have
done it know it's not, and that it's hard work. Be proud of what you have
accomplished so far. It's wonderful and so are you! Hang in there. It
will happen.

We all reach a plateau at some point. Just keep working out and try
changing your diet for a few days to get you jump started again. Don't let
it get you down you will start loosing again.

If you are not taking your measurments - START NOW - and take them monthly.
When the scale isn't moving and you are *doing the right thing* then your
inches are probably ~shrinking~. I would increase your daily water intake
and really monitor everything you are eating using fitday.com or
caloriecounter.com. Hang in there, little stalls are part of the journey (I
think a true plateau is 30 days with NO weight change at all) Remain
determined :)

Dear Olisa! Your body is recuperating from the massive weight loss you have
experienced. Good job! If you read my blog, you will see that I had a stall
for three months. Ugh, I almost went bonkers. During this time, my
measurements continued to shrink, however, and eventually, the weight loss
resumed. Somehow, when I added more lean protein, water and motion, that
would eventually break a stall. Give your body the time it needs, and
before long, you will resume losing weight. That's a promise!
Warm hugs,
Pam

Just wanted to say WOW...great job...so great your body is taking a rest!
You should see the scale moving any second now! These things happen for a
reason and they happen more and more frequently as you go on thru-out the
first year or so...It doesn't mean you stopped losing or are
failing....This is the point where before surgery on diets, so many give up
and give in to old habits...The tool helps you get passed that and begin
life changes because you cannot quit and start eating the way you did pre
op! And so you begin to see the pattern of how easy it is to second guess
yourself when in fact, you are doing great! If I BELIEVED that I was doing
good Pre-op on diets when I hit these stalls, I might not have given
up...Or maybe I would still be trying and giving up anyway.:::Shrugs:::
It's just easier to see now, where I lost my confidence...You do not have
to worry about that! You will see in no time at all that you are doing it
and doing it great! Hugs!

Congrats on the weight loss! I am almost 1 year post op and i stall every
once and a while, it could be up to 3 weeks, but then all of sudden I loose
3 llbs in a week, I was told by my doc that your body is readjusting, and
has to catch up, don't get discourgaged and down, just keep on your
program, and the scale will move! Good luck!

Greetings, I also had RNY 8/5/08 and have hit the same issue and been
stalled about a month. I have gone to the doctor and they are checking my
thyroid! I have suffered with low thyroid before, and my dr. thinks it has
to do with the minimal amount of calories I am getting in. - good luck,
rachelle

Go to
http://www.obesityhelp.com/morbidobesity/information/planner+results.php
and type in your beginning weight I think you will be very surprised to see
that you are actually ahead of the game.
I also had surgery on 7-25-08, I started at 302 and I have lost 83 lbs to
date. My doctor actually told me to increase my calories so that my weight
loss will slow down a little.
So point is don't be so hard on yourself you have done wonderful from what
I see.
Good luck and God Bless, Jackie
