I had my RNY on 6/18/08 I pretty much eat everything, of course sticking
to high protien low carb. I have 3 oz of 100% OJ in the morning, then I
will have eggs srambled with sauage or ham. For lunch I like to have a lean
cuisine or south beach diet frozen meal. I cant finsih a whole one I share
it with my 2 year old. For dinner its whatever meat I make for the fam and
veggies. I drink water for the rest of the day. Some people say Fruit2O is
good. Sugar free kool aid is good Sugar free Lemonade. I have coffee or
Iced tea. If you can handle artificial sugar then you have lots of options.
I cant so I pretty much just drink water or Iced tea when Im out and about.

Don't forget a powerful "liquid" vitamin / mineral like VEMMA.
You need lots of Vit D and it has 1000 IU of Vit D3, very important. Go to

Everyone handles those things very differently and it changes too. I could
not tolerate ANY sugar newly PO...I was firm with the rules for two years
and gradually began to have a little sugary stuff now and then...I went
from a tolerance of 4-8 gs of sugar (in yogurts and natural sugar in
fruits) to 4 years later about 24 g's of sugar on an empty pouch...If I
already eat a meal, the amount of sugar I can handle is MUCH less...It's
not worth eating sugar for the pain I get. But it is nice to know my
limits for protein bars and accidental sugar ingestion. And those naughty
times when something frosted and fluffy ends up in my mouth...I know that I
can handle a bite and will pay close CLOSE attention to my pouch...There
are always warning signs when eating sugar and I stop and even spit out
what's in my mouth if I feel even a twinge of discomfort. I will end up
useless and in pain for two hours if I over-do sugar. Then I have munchies
to deal with for days unless I "de-carb" for a few days and get
rid of the sugar cravings...Sugar is like a drug to my body. Some people
are not carb/sugar sensitive at all after some time. I never want to know
that. I cannot trust myself...You shouldn't either! I only say that because
we have all been MO and KNOW what it is to over eat foods that are not good
for us. That part of the WLS journey is still with us....and we will
always have out eating disorders...Just avoid sugar if you can...If you
must have a little, do so only in moderation. Even though I KNOW I can
handle 24ish gs of sugar, I will not buy anything with over 14 g's of sugar
in it. Or drink anything with more than that in it...including from
natural sugar... A banana for example has about 12 gs of sugar...I only buy
small bananas because I can eat an entire large one and I just don't need
it all...I can't eat half a banana...I just can't get myself to stop! LOL
I'm so weak! But knowing this...I buy the smallest ones I can find. It's
all about choices! Make good ones, no matter what you can handle! Good
luck!

The amount of sugar/fat that causes dumping is different from person to
person... some people never dump and others dump after eating very small
amounts. This is a good question to ask your surgeon or nutritionist.
Why can't you eat other foods besides soup? Is this a food restriction
from your surgeon or nutritionist? Are you afraid to eat other food
because you are worried you'll get sick? Have you tried other foods and
gotten sick?
