Question:
problems with eating

i am having trouble keeping anything over 1 oz of food in a 30 minutes and then having a lot of discomfort after why it is becoming very agrovating it hasnt interferred any with my wait loss. i had my surgery on dec 17,2007 some day it even hhurts to take my vitamins i had gastric done and am 55    — peggieanne53 (posted on May 29, 2008)

The outlet of your stomach may be closing. This happens to about 5% of RNY patients. It should be about 12-15 mm. Tell your surgeon the problems you are having. They have a simple procedure to dialate the opening using a balloon passed through the throat to the pouch. You are of course sedated. Best of luck to you. ............bill

Sounds like a stricture (scar tissue building up in the stoma or exit from the pouch). Call your doc and schedule and appointment with a GI doc, if necessary. Don't let it get worse! (I ended up in the hospital for 3 days, because eventually I couldn't even drink water.)
