Not bad...just stay up on your iron...there is a GREAT product called Nioxin that you can get at hair salons...it helps with the thinning and regrowth...good stuff...

I say stick with 70 grams of protein and you will be OK. Iron keeps you from being animic.

never lost any hair -- take your vitamins, water and protein and you shouldn't have any problems -- hair is made up of protein -- not biotin ;) good luck

I lost hair from about 3 months post op until about 6 months post op. (I also lost hair from 3 months post op after a C-section, so I don't know if it is RNY related or just surgery stress.) I am almost a year out now and doing fine. Be sure you are getting your protein and taking your viatmins. :0D

This varies greatly from person to person. Some have none, some have lots. If you are getting adequate amounts of protein in, it shouldn't be bad. I never had hair falling out as a problem, mine went from very naturally curly to very straight. Strange. Had to cut it short but I like it. Low maintenance. Good luck Dawn Vickers, RN, BLC, CLC

I am 4 months post op and have lost about half of my hair. I had thick full hair before surgery and now it's thin and limp.. and still falling out. All I can advise is keep taking protein and biotin everyday. the doc says you just have to wait it out.

I'm a little over 1 year out and at the beginning I lost some of my hair (not alot) and I was told to take Biotion and it really worked. You can get it over the counter at WalMart and it's less than $4.00 per bottle and it really works. Good Luck

HI, mine was not bad, thank goodness I have a lot of hair but it only lasted about 2 months and then stopped. I did not wash my hair everyday during this period, everyother. I was taking more than enough protein but it still happened anyway. Don't worry it does come back, mine did and thicker than ever.

Not too bad....just keep your iron and protein up. I had thinning months 2-4 and by 6 -8 months was back to norm. Good luck.

So sorry you've having problems with hair loss. I had some hair loss at about 4 months; but not as much as I thought. However, I hadn't been drinking my protein shakes........the minute I started my shakes...........BOOM, it stopped. Don't know it this will help, might check with your NUT. Good Luck,

I am almost 3 months out and I have been losing a lot of hair. I don;t have bald spots but I cut it short to help make it seem and look fuller. I have been taking biotin and that doesn't seem to be doing anything. However, new hair is growing back in at the same time. I also have Polycystic ovarian syndrome and that has always made my hair fall out. But It has increased since surgery. I have been told that it does stop and/or slow down after a while. My mom is 12 years post=op of DS and she also lost some hair in the beginning. However, she hasn;'t lost anymore for quite a few years.

I'm 4 months out and have not had any hair loss. My weight loss is very slow going and I think that helps. I've lost 60 lbs. as of today. I take my vitamins and have around 60-70 gr. of protein a day. Kritter
