Question:
Are there any lap-band patients out there.

I am post-op 2/11/08 and have lost 24 lbs. I am eating too much. I am going to see the Doctor again on 4/2/08 hopefully to get a fill to prevent me from eating too much. I am still losing though but at a very slow pace. Is any one else having similar situations?    — cconnell (posted on March 25, 2008)

I had surgery 12/11/07 and so far I have been able to eat anything I want without any problems. I went yesterday for my 3rd fill. I have lost a total of 30 lbs but only 1 or 2 lbs since my last fill. Doc told me to expect 1 to 2 lbs a week. I have the same problem with the eating too much. My nutritionist recommended getting baby forks and spoons to eat with. That has helped a lot plus I watch the clock and time my bites. The slower I eat the less it takes to fill me up. But most importantly make sure that you measure your food. 2oz of protein and 1/2 veggies.

I feel the same way. I told my doctor i was eating to much, but he said i had loss weight at the right pace so he would not change nothing. I only have 3cc in my band i have loss 26 since surgery. i had surgery on my foot so I have not been able to exercise. when i start i hope i loose more. I also eat a full meal. At my next visit i will tell him i'm eating between meals so he may give me a fill.

I have not had surgery yet however I do have those "hungry days", I have found that the Special K protein water is a good solution for those days. It has protein and fiber and will help me not to be so hungry. I like the Kiwi-Strawberry. Give it a try.

24 lbs in 6 weeks is really good. With lapband you should only lose between 1 - 2 per week. I had the surgery 1/9/08 and have lost 40 lbs total including preop diet. I have had only one fill but my second is Thursday. I too feel that the weight is coming off slower than I would like but it is staying off and even though I don't see the scale moving very fast my clothes are much too big. I too feel I eat too much or the wrong things but that is just bad old habits which take time to change. I think your doing great, which is what I am sure you doctor will say too. Keep up the good work.

Cathy, it sounds to me, too, like you're doing great. I'm post-op 3/19/08, and I'd lost sixteen pounds as of yesterday. Keep up the good work! Mark B. in N.C.

I'm right there with you. I'm post-op 3/3/08. In the last two weeks I find I can eat a lot more also. I lost 20 lbs the first two weeks, but haven't lost anymore. I get my first fill on 4/17/08 (not soon enough). Good Luck

That is normal. What do you consider slow? 1-2 lbs a week is a healthy weight loss.

I don't think this is all that slow. I'll tell you what's slow---I weighed 196 at lapband surgery day on 4/10/07 and I weigh 184 now and have had 7 fills...

I have read the current responses to this question. I am scheduled to have my lapband on 4/29/08. I am excited and nervous at the same time. One thing I feel that is unfair is how some people on this forum degrade the lapband because they either failed at it/or it did not work for them. Everyone reacts different to things. I chose the lapband because it is less invasive. I have two familiy members who have the band, and they re doing very well with with. Some advice they gave me was to follow the nutrition guidelines, workout and you will lose 10-15 pounds a month or more. Good luck.
