Question:
I am 6 weeks post op from the ryn lap. This were going well until about 2 weeks
when I started vomitting every morning. I tolerate food and liquids ok during the day. I do have some nausea during the day but it passes. Anyone else have this terrible problem? It is always 30 - 45 min. after I get when my stomach is empty. Any help is appreciated! Jill — tbjohn (posted on March 9, 2008)

4 Weeks out I had to get a perscription for some ulcer medication because
the raw tissue in my cause me to throw up. I took it 1 hour before eating
and took my time eating and chewing, then rested for 1/2 hour after eating.
It solved the problem for me. Hang in there. I feel great now after
three months. I would do it all over again. It does work. Call your doc
and see what he suggest.

The nausea during the day could be the protein drink. It made me nauseated
until I tried BSN Lean Dessert Protein Drink; for some reason, it doesn't
make me nauseated, even if i drink the whole serving at one time. As for
your morning vomiting - the "morning" part of it makes me wonder
if you might be pregnant? If that's at all a possibility, you migt want to
take a pregnancy test.

Oops - sorry Thomas, I did not realize the question was posted by a male
until after I entered my previous response re: pregnancy. I have no idea
why someone would vomit specifically in the morning, but you should consult
your surgeon and perhaps your family Doctor.
Best wishes!

Call you dietician, sounds like there could be an issue with what you are
eating, and how you are eating it?
Don't ignore it, it doesn't pay to hope something goes away, and I'd also
take the HPT test anyway, can never be too sure :-)

I am pre-op and do LOTS of reading here. I have read that this happens to
others and they have found that if they eat cottage cheese and nothing else
for a while, or they drink something warm first thing in the morning that
it soothes the pouch and they have no problems the rest of the day.

I also would get sick within an hour after I would get up.. I called my
nutritionist and she said to drink something warm as soon as you get up..
green tea was my salvation :) It helped. She said that when you sleep your
pouch shrinks a bit and then when you get up and try to force something in
there while its small/shrunk you sometimes have "problems" so I
started my day with warm tea and ever since then I have done great. I no
longer get sick unless I try something I shouldn't.. :)
Hope this helps.. Make sure that you call your dr if this still persists..
:) It doesnt hurt to let them know whats going on.
Take care
God bless you

Hi Jill, or Thomas? Anyway, I had that some, and here is what I think. I
am 4 years out now, but remember that nausea in the morning. For me, I
think it was flem. Laying down all night caused it to gather, and I think
the "flem" is just too think to pass, so it comes back up. Once
it came up I was fine. I didn't like the process, and it didn't last
forever, but does happen sometimes as allergy season comes and goes. Hope
this helps. Patricia P.
