I had a lap RNY 10/02/07 If you need anything let me know.
Make sure on your ride home you have a pillow with you for the bumps. And
stock up on product's you will need for your diet before hand. Med's
vitamin's ect. Good Luck !!!

I'm scheduled for Lap RNY on November 26th so I'll be your buddy! The only
bad thing is that my home internet is SLOW so I don't know how much I will
be on while I'm on medical leave. But my doctor is thinking I may only be
out for a little over a week (I have an office/desk job- not that hard).
Anyway, if you are like me you are excited and scared at the same time.
Can you believe we are only 2 weeks away? Whoo hoo!

HOW EXCITING!!! I had my lap RNY 4 years ago. I felt like I finally took
control of my life. I lost 100 pounds. I had a tummy tuck 3 months ago.
Best 2 things I have ever done for myself.

Aloha,
I had a lap MGB about a month ago. You're doing the smart thing by setting
up your buddies now. I waited until after surgery and was an emotional
mess.
Keep us posted.

Hi Donna! I had open RNY on June 20th of this year. I am now down 71 lbs.
My weight had a plateau for about a month but this morning I was down 2
more lbs. I only have 40 or so more to go. I am so glad I did this. Be
prepared for the months ahead to be exhausted though. That is one thing I
did not expect. Feel free to check out my profile. Write anytime and I
will be glad to be your friend and help any way possible. This is one
thing that has really kept me on track.

CONGRATS on getting a date! i know you are excited and nervous, which is
100% normal. i had my lap RNY on 10-1-07 and don't regret it for one
minute. i have lost 30lbs and feel great!! i would like to make a few
suggestions: 1- get all your vitamins, GAS-X, protein shakes, puree foods,
soups, crystal light, sugarfree popsicles, sugarfree jellos and puddings
now so you won't have to worry about them when you come home. 2- get you
some chapstick, bedroom shoes, mouthwash, and baby wipes for the hospital
stay. 3- buy you some 4oz or 1/4cup containers to have at home when you get
out the hospital, they really come in handy! 4- if anyone will be staying
with you at the hospital be sure to pack them a little sack of snacks and
stuff, because the hospital often doesn't provide food for guests and the
cafes get very expensive! good luck and keep your profile updated... hope
this helps, Holly

I had my RNY on 10/22/07 and feel great - I've lost 20 lbs as of my post op
check up 10/07 - I'd be glad to be a buddy. My advice is to NOT stock up on
an abundunce of stuff if you live close to a grocery store as your taste
may change. I can't stand the taste of chocolate not - hope not for ever
but I have a refrigerator full of chocolate slimfast that I gag on. Same
with the CIB. Vanilla seems to be OK. Now I'm on some foods but what I
liked before is not what I like now. Even water. I don't like most flavored
water - plain is fine. Also developed Lactose intolerance. Once this
straightened out I'm doing well.
I joined a post op support group which has help too because people are
there from early post op to ten years post op.
Good luck and please feel free to write - you didn't mention your age but I
am 64 and feel 44 now. [email protected]

Hi I had RNY on 10-23-07 and had no complications. The key is to walk as
much as you can push yourself a little further everyday and get 80-100
ounces of fluid and 60-75 grams protein daily. The first few days it will
be hard to do. Have a good support with you because you will feel
depressed from time to time. But it was a great decision. --John Knight
