Question:
My mom had the DS 11 years ago. She has the worst gas.
Does anyone know what she can take for it? Its terrible and bothers her at work and everywhere else. — Sillyguts (posted on October 28, 2007)

YES!!!!!!!!!! I have the cure all for everything!!! Gas X with Malox. My
surgeon recommended it. It has saved me several times over the past 4
years. Tell your mom to buy some right away. It has to be the one with
Malox or it will not work. I would love to hear back how it works for her.

Several questions: Has she been lactose intolerant at all? If she's not
sure, she could try eliminating lactose from her diet briefly to ascertain
whether or not that is a culprit. If that doesn't work, then adding
probiotics can be amazingly helpful. She should also be checked for c-diff
- particularly if she's had any rounds of antibiotics in the recent past.
An RX for Flagyl or the like from a knowledgable doc would be appropriate
if that were the case. Also, if she's chronically dehydrated, that can be
a contributing factors, so can heavy concentrations of simple carbs. There
are LOTS of options of things to address - lots and lots of things to try
to find some normalcy for her. This is not *normal* for a DS post-op. It
is a sign that something is not in balance.
Blessings,
dina
