yes i used a liquid multi called tropical oasis which i ordered from
vitacost.com. It's orange flavored and contains all of the vitamins we
need. Now I use a chewable from vitamin world which is pineapple flavored
and equivalent to the TO. Be sure to take iron as the TO does not have
enough. I'm not a fan of flintstones or centrum as many doctors recommend.

Sorry y'all! I use a screen reader and sometimes, I click things that I'm
not supposed to click before I realize it! Anyway, my original question
was supposed to read as follows:
Hi all, my nutritionist told me that after surgery, I will need to take a
daily multivitamin, B12 and 75 mg of protein. I have read numerous
comments on here a bout all the vitamins y'all take.
Am I missing something? This sounds like a matter of 2 vitamins a day in
my case and I am wondering if I should be taking more than that? I haven't
had my surgery yet but want to be prepared.
Thanks,
Lynn W.

Kinda depends on the result you want, I guess. If you were asking me,
that's not even close. How can you get 2000mg of calcium citrate in a
multi, you know? And then a few thousand units of vit D3, and then a gob
of iron and so on. I know a lot of programs start with nothing, then patch
ppl back together as their levels fall. Just a different way of thinking,
I guess. We start them on a full regimen, then tweak as time goes on. Much
easier than trying to rebuild a whole person, you know?

Hi, the way i was instructed was take the multi vitamin, 60-80 grams of
protein, and after 1 month 1200 mg of calcium citrate, when your doctor
sees you for your 3 month visit, he should check your blood to see your
levels of what vitamins you need to take due to malabsorbtion, i currently
take b1,b12,iron, and what i mentioned above, good luck

Not only the multi but also B-12 (due to the malapsorption part of the
RNY), B complex, iron, and Calcium. You can get chewables of multi,
subligual or shots of B-12, chewable iron and Calcium, and liquid B
complex. Bariatric Advantage.com has everything you need and more. For the
short run, you can get some things from GNC or Vitamin World. All of these
are designed to keep us healthy, continue losing weight, and keep our hair
from falling out (the high protein).

Lynn, listen to your program requirements. There are many programs that
require just 1 mvi and additional B12. When I had surgery, I asked my
surgeon about extra iron, calcium, etc. He said that if you eat a well
rounded diet and take your mvi and B12, you should be fine. Extra iron not
used can damage the liver, extra calcium (high levels) can result in crampy
abdominal pain. 6 years later, take MVI and B12-levels checked last
month-all great! Do what your surgeon tells you to do!
