Welcome to the loser side..Yes you still have to blend. It's to soon to eat
tuna and mashed potatoes. My doctor gave me a diet I went by. Just call
your nut and ask your doctor.. As of soft bread I am 2 months post op and
will not dare to try bread...As you can stretch your pouch!!!! Call your
doctor and ask them.....Good Luck

When I was almost 4 weeks out, I tried grits. All I was suppose to have was
pureed foods. I threw it up and my stomach hurt really bad all day. I
end up in the hospital b/c my doctor thought I might have torn my staples
in my stomach. Thank God I did not, but after that I did exactly what my
doctor told me. Im almost 5 months out and I just started eating bread and
rice. Be patient and take your time trying new foods. I promise it will
get better. You dont want to risk tearing your stomach, streatching your
stomach, blocking your intestines or just get sick from eating things you
shouldnt eat yet. The first month is also when you will lose the most
weight. Take advantage of that and stay on the diet you are suppose to.
Take care and good luck!

Oh Honey....I've been there!! Liquids start to work your nerves and you
just want to a.) taste something and b.) chew something with some
substance. Let's face it were are carnivores! BUT!!! Don't do it! 1.)
Liqiuds for a full 2 weeks and then 2 weeks of pureed food and I progressed
to soft foods. 2.) Listen to your doc/nut, they know what works!! 3.) You
loose the most weight in the first month after surgery, take advantage of
your new tool and don't let you mind win. It's mind over matter at
first......it gets SO MUCH EASIER, I promise! Don't push the soft foods.
Introduce things as your doc/nut suggest. For me it was at 4 weeks after
surgery - and even then....I was leary and didn't introduce too much. I am
4 months out (next Thursday) and I can eat just about anything and am
living normally again :) It gets easier and funner and better.....keep it
up, welcome to the losers bench!!

Well, this is a different answer than everyones else, but I had full
liquids for 3.5 weeks, and then my doc told me to go on full foods just to
chew well. I was having a heck of a time with my intestines and find out I
was allergic to most milk and whey products. So....I am now five weeks
out, have my first fill a week from today and I have no restriction at all.
I can eat everything. So, I am dieting until next week. Following the
rules of drinking , getting protein first, waiting 30 minutes before
drinking, taking the vitamins, etc. Yet, I have over eaten and felt
umcomfortable. Have I damaged my pouch? I really don't think so. Guess I
will find out next week. I guess you could feasibly stretch your pouch out
at any time in the weight loss journey. If it was that easy to stretch out
then I bet close to everyone would probably have huge pouches because I
doubt if everyone has been perfect. I am doing okay, but waiting for the
fill so that I will not be hungry. I am just one of those people that I
think healed pretty fast.

Sureeeeeeeeeee go right ahead and do all that--- IF you WANT to mess up yr
surgery! Why on earth would you do that after everything you have been
through? Stick to the liquids! You NEED to...soft bread...nada for like 6
months to a year!!!! And then ONLY in moderation...If you can't make it
through this 2 weeks, then you might not be successful with losing weight.
Hang in there! Be patient! Good luck

It's your head that wants the bread and stuff. I was on liquid only for 2
months and even now (5 months post-op) I don't eat bread. Wait it out--- in
about another 3 weeks you won't think too much about bread and stuff
anymore. In the meantime, check out some cool protein shake recipes. We've
all been there and believe me, I know how you feel, but just stick with it
and hang in there. I would say that I felt like I was mentally
"starving" and that's what it is... all in your head, just fight
it!! Good luck and congrats on the surgery!

All doctors are different. I had surgery on a Wednesday, got home on Friday
and was eating soft foods on Saturday. I ate Tuna, eggs, cottage cheese
etc. I've had no problems. Like everyone else has said, hang in there and
follow YOUR dr's orders.

Do what the doctor says !!!! DO NOT eat tuna or bread yet...that time will
come. I know right now you feel as if you can't take the liquids and
pureed foods another day but stay focused....you can do it. I could not
eat soft foods until I was 5 weeks out. I know every doctor have different
requirements but it's definitely too soon for you to consider soft foods.
GOOD LUCK !!!

As others have said, listen to your doctor. As far as me I had surgery on
Tues and went home on Friday. I was on clear liquids while in the hospital
and was sent home on a full liquid diet. I was told to call and inform them
how I did with the full liquids that next monday. I did and they put me on
soft food then a week and a half later I went to pureed foods then two
weeks later I eat just about any thing I want except anything with peelings
or seeds or hulls and no raw vegetables or whole beef or pork. I was told
after three month post op I can start all of this. So far I have had a few
mishaps but not that many. I have lost 60 pounds since surgery that was on
April 24th 2007. But this is what my surgeon does so it does not mean it is
for anyone else to try. Alway do what the doctor that does your surgery
tells you to do. If you trusted him to do the surgery then you should trust
him with what to do after surgery.

Absolutely DO NOT GIVE IN!!!! The first month is the hardest. Do Not
sabotage your surgery so soon. You have put a huge investment in your self
not only financially but physically and mentally as well. Get your self
every flavor of sugar free pudding, & jello, Drink sobe leans, crystal
light, etc...Your need for " real food" is mental right now, you
feel like your going to die, but it will pass, I promise. The pain and
anguish you are feeling now...will turn to pure pleasure when you start
hitting goals. The first time you get to buy clothes in a "real"
store and not the fat stores, every thing we go through is worth it... here
is a protein shake that I love...I make this for my family for breakfast,
so you will have to cut it down depending on how many people are drinking
it. Only do this shake with a blender, cuisine arts etc...do not work, do
not ask me why, but they don't taste right.
Fruit Protein Shake
2 eggs 2 Tbsp Cottage Cheese
2 Banannas 1 Tbsp Olive Oil
1 scoop protein 1 C. Orange Juice
2 tbsp yogurt 1 C Frozen Fruit
1 C fat free milk Ice
mix together and enjoy, this doesn't keep,so only make as much as you are
going to use at that time.
I have 4 boys ages 16-4 and everyone of them loves these shakes. Good
luck.... bonnie
