Hi Teresa,
I absolutely love "Hank's Finest" protein. You can go to his
website and get a free sample of chocolate & vanilla. He will get them
to you fast. I have tried probably 20 or 30 different proteins and this is
awesome stuff. I don't get anything out of this endorsement. Don't work
for them, don't get a kickback, just love the product!! lol
Here's the link for you:

Hi! Congratulations on your surgery. I'm three weeks post-op, and had the
same concerns. While in the hospital they gave me a pureed meal before I
left for home, and it had a wonderful tasting drink, tasted like egg
custard to me. Turned out it was a vanilla protein drink. I went out and
got a few different kinds, and I found some great ones!! Nectar Ice tea-
Great to put into a water bottle Nectar Cherry - just yummy with ice or
blended with ice Dessert Cinnamon bun - breakfast with milk and warmed in
the microwave....mmm... Any Whey- in anything!! Tasteless! Metabolic Whey
Vanilla - blended with lots of ice, a vanilla shake, add any fruit or a
little cocoa powder http://www.directsupplement.com/ is the site, their
prices are very discounted! Hope that helps... Vanessa

teresa:
a friend of mine gave me protein powder from walmart. It is only about 13
dollars a container i think so not that expensive. I have the chocolate
and i put in 2 tablespoons of sugar free instant pudding mix in it so it
gives it more chocolate flavor. if you want and are allowed, you can blend
it with 1/3 of a banana also, give it some more flavor.. but just the
chocolate with the pudding mix in it is good. i tried others and didn't
like them but this is good. there is also a site you can go to to get
samples of different flavors. its www.vitalady.com. you can order samples
there for $1.99 each then if you like them you can order the container.
hope this helps.

What kind of proteins have you tried? And how did you make it up? It might
be what you are tasing that is bad, and not that you are crazy!

Hi Theresa.... I am less than 1 wk post op and have been experimenting with
stuff. I found that I like the Atkins protein shakes (I'm sure that you
could sweeten them up with sugar sub if desired). I am adding "any
whey" to everything.... 1 scoop is 17g protein. I added it to some
SF,FF vanilla pudding with a couple of drops of flavorings and boy was that
yummy. You can make shakes, but be careful, let it sit a little bit before
drinking as the air in the shake can cause a gas bubble when you drink it.
good luck to you.

You should really be consulting with your nutritionist for these protein
ideas. Mine likes 100% whey isolate and Hanks is not 100%. I ordered
bariatric whey protein from www.alltheywhey.com. They have a sampler of 6
for $8.49 and you can order 1 lb. individual containers. I also like
Isopure but it's very expensive. Some of the ready to drink cans are good
too but again you have to experiment. Use 4 oz. of milk and add a scoop of
whey protein, a few slices of bananas (later you can frozen strawberries or
other fruit) and one splenda with a cup of ice. Use the pulse on the
blender so it gets smooth but not frothy. Sip on this drink for at least
30 minutes. The unflavored whey is great and can be added to lots of
things like cream of wheat and applesauce.

I use a product called "Zero Carb Isopure", made by Nature's
Best, Inc. I mix (with an emersion blender) two scoops into about 10 - 12
oz. of regular (not low sugar) cranberry juice. sometimes I use non-fat
milk with several packets of Splenda instead of cranberry juice, for
variety. I put it into a sports squeeze bottle and "nurse" on it
throughout the day whenever the whim strikes (not necessarily with a
planned meal or snack). I take a "hit" (just a small amount)
prior to a planned meal too. It actually tastes very good, and that's
IMPORTANT. If it tastes good, you'll keep using/eating whatever you
prepare. Don't go overboard. 50 grams (2 scoops) per day is more than
enough if you are also taking in other forms of protein. You can also
sprinkle some of the powder on your breakfast cereal in the morning. The
important thing is to get 50 grams of protein processed into your system
(i.e., not up-chucked) each day so that your body does not start breaking
down muscle instead of fat to get the calories it burns off. Muscle itself
burns calories too; fat does not. Less muscle mass means less calories
burned and burning calories means losing weight (provided you don't replace
them all when you eat.) I hope this helps; it has worked well for me. Don't
give up!!

Go to bariatriceating.com and order either the sample basket or some
samples. I ended up liking Matrix 5.0 Chocolate and Nectar Strawberry-Kiwi
that I mix with Crystal light Strawberry-Kiwi and Nectar Fuzzy Naval that I
mix with Crystal light Classic Orange. And I use the Any Whey with
different decaf teas; green, earl gray, cinnamon apple, spiced chai.
Pre op I did the Slim Fast Carb control, EAS, and Atkins but I don't like
them now that I am post op. Still have some in my pantry.
Hope you find something soon because protein is very important. Actually I
live on the protein drinks. My pouch is very finicky. It will only
tolerate chili and shrimp at this point, 3 months post op.
Best of luck

for a treat that has protein try making the S/F chocolate pudding with Silk
Soy Milk. Sounds funky but tastes like melted Dove chocolate. PS I hate the
protein shakes to. I use Liquid Protien by Properformance at GNC strores.
Mixed in S/F punch its pretty good. It must work to, I am 11 months out and
down 170+lbs
