The depo shot is funny.... I was able to lose 50 lbs while on it.... do it
think it is directly from the shot...no. I think it is possible that you
just gained the weight anyway. Yes, a sideeffect of depo is that it can
modestly increase your appetite but if you've had surg it shouldn't be a
big deal. If you ask most doctors about the pill/depo provera they will say
that people who gain or lose a large amount of weight are doing something
else...i.e. eating more...the depo itself doesn't cause the weight gain. I
think if you are vigilant to look for any changes and continue to eat good
choices you will be fine. Best wishes!

I've seen so many people who have gained weight on depo. From what I have
seen, it almost seems to induce or mimic PCOS (polycystic ovarian
syndrome). The "symptoms" from it are very similar to what I
have experienced with PCOS and I can't imagine voluntarily doing
that....but that's me! Consider that depo is a hormone and changes your
hormone levels. Insulin is a hormone and is affected by other hormone
levels. If it made you gain weight before, I would think it could again
even after surgery....or at least slow loss, because it *appears* that it
changes the metabolism. Just be aware of that and maybe consider a
different kind of bc for awhile.
