Question:
5 d post-op, should I have seen some kind of weight loss or am I jumping the gun?

I GAINED weight while I was in the hospital, but that was from all of the
fluids that they pump into you during your stay. Relax and it will start
coming off in no time!!

I know this is easier said than done...but I don't keep a scale in my house
at all...on our journey we have learned to fear the numbers of the
scale...then after wls we seek validation that we are doing well by what
those numbers say...I say don't worry about numbers...just focus on
becoming the healthiest person you can be...and you've already started by
making the decision to take this new journey, wls...the numbers will take
care of themselves.
I agree with the others...we do gain weight because of the fluid they pump
into us...also take into consideration that we are swollen and still
healing from our wls...hang in there the weight will come off.

Right now, you most likely have significant water retension. By next week,
you will start seeing it come off. If you had a bypass, you will likely
see rapid weightloss for the first couple of months that then begins to
taper off. If you had a band, the weight loss should be more gradual.

Remember that everything is still swollen inside and they pumped you full
of fluids while you were in the hospital. Its going to take time, but you
will start seeing results and feeling better. Take the time to rest,
remember to drink <sip, sip, sip> and heal..........You'll be so much
better soon!

I didn't weigh myself till my first post-op appointment at 16 days after
surgery. I had lost 28 pounds and was so excited. My advise is to hide the
scale for a while and only take it out once a month or so.
