Question:
I work in a office and I find it hard to eat snack at my desk

I try very hard to get all of my protein in every day. So I found Macadamias nut and Cashews. only 14 nuts and you have 4g protein. are they ok to eat?    — bntfive (posted on December 30, 2005)

If you are wanting to snack I can see the point of keeping it healthy. If you are talking about snacks because of the protien why don't you try some of the drinks. Some of them are prepacked and ready to drink. I willl keep mine in a glass of ice so it stays cold. As far as "...are the nuts ok?" I think it depends on how far out you are and if your new tummy likes them. ENJOY!

I am only 4 weeks post op and I have the same problem. I am a hairdresser and don't not have the time to stop and eat my small meals. I also eat cashews and have no problems I do not know if it is ok but I do it for the protien. As far as what the other person posted It is not about being hungry and snacking it is about nutrition and getting all the protien needed and I can not tollerate all the protien drinks If I drink to many I will throw it up. So good luck and if you can tollerate it go for it health is the issue right.

I would say NO, a hard boiled egg, would be a better choice, as a example, soft, much more protein. even affordable. more staying power. or a mini can of tuna, shrimp, or canned meats, maybe even chicken liver, yum,or yuk, I suppose this might be easy for me to say I am pre op, but I've just been thru 8 months of dietary counseling and pre surgical regimentation with behavior modification with dietitians, and surgeon counselling, PCP counseling, exercise guidance and any other possible thing Aetna might dream up to deny me.

In the long run, I'd be careful about the large amount of fat in Mac. nuts and Cashews. I eat them - but in moderation. I think the idea of the hard boiled egg is a good one. I eat one every day! Good Luck!

I would watch the calories on the nuts! I know my Dr says to eat them in moderation. Nuts have oils in them! I drink a grt shake, it is from Body Fortress, Premium Whey Protein. They have vanilla & choclate! The chocolate is grt! I get it @ Walmart. I provides 20 grms of protein & if you mix it w/ fat-free milk there is another 8 grms of protein! Good Luck!
