Question:
HAS ANYONE HEARD OF ACUPUNCTURE OF THE EAR FOR WEIGHTLOSS?

I HAVE A FRIEND FROM CHURCH WHO HAS HAD THIS DONE AND SAYS SHE HAS LOST 10 POUNDS. DOES ANYONE ELSE OUT THERE HAVE ANY EXPERIENCE WITH THIS?    — twin94 (posted on November 1, 2005)

Hi, I tried this many years ago and it didn't work for me. I am a believer of accupuncture, but I guess my addiction was too strong.

My husband just did Acupuncture to help with stop smoking, and at the same time they did Acupuncture to help control his appetatie. Maybe that is what they are talking about. If it is, it is not for weightloss only to help curb your appetate (sp).

Not only have I heard of this but I tried it. I lost a total of 50+ pounds. In addition to the accupunture the doctor prescribed appetite control pills and a water pill. Once I had the staple removed from my ear and discontinued the pills, the weight packed on at a rapid rate. I gained back all of the weight that I lost plus more!

Yes I tried it too, amongst many other things and wasted my time and money. Surgery still the only long term program as a counsellor that I recommend

Yes, I tried it about 20 years ago. What they did for me was put a staple in my ear and every time I got hungry I was supposed to rub the staple and count to 100 and the urge to eat would go away. I'm not sure how much of the urge removal was due to the grossness of rubbing a staple in your ear or actual acupuncture working, but it did curb the apetite. The only problem was that if I "wanted" to eat the food I just didn't rub my ear. Had to go in every week and get the staple removed from one ear to the other and back then it was $25 a week to get that done and insurance didn't pay for it. I don't think I lost a pound. It still required my willpower to rub the staple.

I tried this when I was a teenager. Dang near pierced my ear with the acupuncture ring they put in and never lost a pound.

I tried it too many, many years ago as a young woman in my 20s I believe. I am 54 now. I lost a few pounds, but gained it all back when my staples loosened up. I didn't get to go back in to have the staples reinserted back in. That must have come after my time. Karen
