Question:
What is considered a volume eater? Heard volume eaters do well with lap band surgery

My understanding is that a volume eater is one who can eat large volumes of
food at a time. Since the lap-band prevents all but a small portion of
food at one time, it does work well. Trying to overeat with the band will
cause you to throw food back up and that is no fun. If, however, you are a
sweets eater, things like malts, ice cream, chocolates all go down easily
and through your pouch quickly to it is harder to loose and maintain your
weight loss with the band. It's a tool, not magic. You have to work with
it. Best of luck!

Well, I am so scared of stretching my tummy, that I limit my self to a 1/2
to 3/4 cup of food at a time. I also follow the orders that my wonderful
Dr told me to do. He gave us a book with all the information and it is my
bible for food comsumption.
Actually I struggle all the time with losing too weight, I am too thin now.

Theyare the grass eater aka snack eater, eat all day long, take a bite of
this and a bite of that.
Volume eater aka eat large portion, usually starve all day and give in at
the eand and stuff the face with big portions or every time they eat they
can't just have a bite or 2 but they must finish the plate and then some.
Both style of eating habits are dangerous. Usually a "normal"
comfortable portion for WLS patient is to take a restaurant portion/plate
and eat 1/2 of that portion as ONE meal and then the 2nd half as another
One meal. Thats the way I was able to eat less without worrying about I am
eating too much or too little. Wether it's a lapband or GBS eating habits
must change and not only we must eat smaller portions but we must chew our
food very well and eat slower. Slower means take your time, don't rush,
chew well and DO NOT mutlutask while eating. Concentrate on your meal, pay
attention to the smell, the texture, the color of the food in your plate.
Best of luck. Iam always available to help. Please don't hesitate to
email me with any question or concerne you may have.

They are NOT GRAZERS. I am a volume eater. I don't necessarily eat until 1
or 2 P. But when I eat, I EAT. 2-3 servings of everything. Feeling full
is not the trigger to stop eating. Feeling STUFFED and not able to eat
another bite it the trigger.
Lap band was perfect for me. With the proper restriction I get the feeling
of being full at small volumes. I also learned the new trigger of the
hiccup that tells me I'm full & to stop eating.
I've lost 130lb with lap bad. Something the 1st surgeon said was not
possible (I chose another surgeon).
