Question:
5 weeks out and still having low grade nausea

Just a constant queasy feeling in my stomach, whether from food or water. Also seriously constipated, but I am drinking the protein shake and all the water required. I'm more worried about the nausea....does it ever go away?    — susyernie (posted on June 9, 2010)

I was two years out on May 8. Still have a queasy feeling in my stomach when eating. Eating fresh fruit with my food helps. My preferences for food have changed. I no longer care for fried foods, lots of melted cheese, or anything rich. The slower I can eat and the smallest bites helps. But I don't mind. The 113 pounds I lost are still gone!! Love it, love it!! Hang in there. It'll be worth it!!

I had my surgery 10 months ago, and it is rough, rough rough, but so well worth it gal. My Dr's office told me the first year is hard and believe me it is. I can't tolerate protein in the meat form so I am some what vegetarian. I would follow whatever diet your Dr gave you. You must get in your protein and water daily, it's imperative. I had nausea, throwing up, (still do on occasion), plus a lot of other crappy problems, but it gets better believe me!!!!

Hi Sue, Take gravol it does help. I had my surgery in Feb and could not eat for 10 weeks then they found that I had an abcess outside of the pouch from cleanup after the surgery. Happens so metimes. I went back into the hospital in April to get this fixed and now I am great. I thought that the nausea would go away but it did not. I am told that I must eat slower and smaller amounts on the spoon/fork and chew until mushy then swallow. No liquids 30 mins before eating solid food and o ne hour after eating solid food. I find this the hardest.

I had nausea off and on for a year. It eventually went away. And it was soooo worth it!

Hi. I am 5 weeks out too, and having the same thing. It gets worse whenever I think about having to drink another protein drink or take my pills. I do understand, it is most frustrating...I just usually don't even want to eat or drink except for water. I do get enough protein and water though, but it is definely not fun. I think we will get better, and I am interested in what the other posters say. We can hang, sister. Hugs, Jane.
