Question:
Update: In agony and having trouble seeing my surgeon
First of all, thank you for the wonderful answers. As it turned out the nurse got in touch with me just as I was preparing to take more drastic steps. My surgeon wanted me to start taking a double dose of pepcid ac or something along those lines until he could get me in for an endoscopy. Was told it might be as much as two weeks since he can only do them Tuesday afternoons but she called back and told me they had an opening. So I had my endoscopy, after which my surgeon talked to my dad (since I was still knocked out). He said I have a "rather large" ulcer and prescribed two different meds for it. He also wants me to drink Ensure or Boost since I have been having trouble eating. Today I am feeling somewhat better, no severe chest pains, but can't even eat as much as I could before starting the meds yesterday. Either way, I'm happy to know what's actually wrong and be on the road toward healing. — snickersblk (posted on December 9, 2009)

I am so glad to hear you at least received a resolve. It is horrible to
not know what is causing such pain. I hope you are on the mend now.

Ulcers are so hard when you already have such a small stomach. Be sure you
don't stop the meds until they say, even if you feel ok. The ulcer can come
back and that is not fun.
