What was the reason for denial? A lot depends on their reason.

Ask them where in your medical policy does it say that they do not cover
gastric bypass. They may cover the lapband. I am doing well with my
lapband. Also if this is coverage through your employer, they have the
option to disallow procedures like cosmetice procedures and any procedure
that has to do with weight loss. Do not give up. There is a saying in the
insurance business, " deny the claim and lets see if they come
back" . Good Luck. Also check back every six months to see if weight
loss surgery was recently added.

Go to obesityaction.org. They will give you advice on how to appeal a
denial by your insurance. They even have sample letters to address
denials. Just click on "Advocacy Tools", then "OAC
Insurance Guide", then "Sample Letters" or "Appealing a
Denial". If you click on "Sample Letters", choose
"Sample Appeal Letter from Surgeon/Patient to Insurance
Provider." I hope that helps. God Bless.

Fight, fight, fight. They count on you not trying and giving up. Appeal,
appeal and appeal. I did and it worked
