Question:
I FEEL I LOSS TO MUCH WEIGHT
MAY 5TH, 2008 IS MY WLS DATE. I AM 1 YEAR OUT, I HAD DS WLS. MY STARTING WEIGHT WAS 244 I AM NOW 110. I TALKED TO THE DR. HE SAD THAT I WILL GAIN SOME WEIGHT BUT NOT THAT MUCH, WHAT EVER THAT MEANS. THE NORMAL WEIGHT LOSS TIME FRAME FOR DS PATIENTS ARE FROM 18 MOS. TO 2 YEARS. I HAVE SEEM TO PLATEAU BECAUSE I'VE BEEN THIS WEIGHT FOR A FEW MONTHS NOW. WHEN I WAS OVER WEIGHT I FELT SELF-CONSCIOUS. NOW THAT I'M WHAT I FEEL UNDER WEIGHT I FEEL SELF-CONSCIOUS. I'M EATING EVERY TWO HOURS I STICK WITH MY DIET GET ALL MY VITAMINS AND PROTIEN I JUST CAN'T SEEM TO GET ABOVE 110. I KNOW TO SOME THIS MY SOUND CRAZY BUT TO ME THIS IS VERY EMOTIONAL. I ALMOST DON'T WANT TO GO OUTSIDE SOME DAYS ALL YOU HEAR IS YOUR TO SMALL, YOU NEED TO GAIN WEIGHT, DID YOU LOSE MORE WEIGHT? IT SEEMS I CAN'T WIN. — IMPROVEMENT (posted on May 16, 2009)

I am in the boat with you. I am tired of people saying I have lost too much
weight. I started at 232 and now am 115 and have been between 115 and 118
for a few months. I have to wear a sweater all the time because my arms
look awful and it is almost as hard to find a size 2 jeans as it was a 22.
I am 18 lbs below my goal weight set by my doctor and my anniversary date
is June12, I will be out l year. I wouldlove to talk to you more my email

July 7,2009 will be 1st year anniversary and my 54 birthday.
My starting weight was 357.I lost 57 lbs just before surgery.I get "do
not lose any more weight". I see my family doctor every month for my
B12 shot he's ok with my new weight of 175-180. My self-conscious level is
up and down. I thing I hate the most is (people watching me eat).I always
put extra food on my plate because I hate hearing "is that all your
going to eat" .I eat what I need and throw out the rest.I hate
wasting food food.

You know what, I think you guys need to adopt that "screw what others
think" attitude! It's not how others see you but how you see
yourselves. I do understand how you may be feeling about being too small
because when I first sought to have WLS 5-6 years ago I had nightmares
about getting too skinny or being referred to as "crack head
skinny," so I didn't take my approval too serious and I asked for
WLS!
I didn't have surgery then because I got pregnant and then got pregnant
againg and decided that it would probably be wise for me to wait until I
was done having children because who wants to get skinny to gain from
pregnancy!
So now here I am not just 112 lbs heavy but add another 50 lbs to that 112!
According to my height I should only weigh about 115-125. I think at 130
that's considered over weight. I am back in the game to become as close to
"ideal" as I can get but you best believe big or small I love
myself and I think I am sexy all around!!
So Please just enjoy yourself and it will get better. My mother went from
439 to 128 and 8 years post op (RNY) she only would gain about 10-15 and
nothing more. Oh her height was only 4'10, but she rocked her new her until
the day she passed (note it had nothing to do with WLS). Even as a severely
morbidly obese woman she had "great" self esteem and I guess
that's where I get it from!! Smile you did it!!!

I am so sorry that you feel that way. If you have had the lap band you
would be saying something diffrent. I had the lap band donw July 24 of last
year, lost 21 lbs the frist week and 6 lbs by week 6 and have not lost any
more weight and I work very hard, i eat right and workout 5 days a week
45-1hr. It is so hard for me I dont thin I will ever be small.

TAHNKS! TRACY AND PEGGY FOR YOUR SUPPORT. PEOPLE DO HAVE THE TENDENCY TO
GET JEALOUS IF YOU HAVE ACOMPLISHED SOMETHING THEY EITHER NEED TO OR AFRAID
TO DO. I DON'T THINK THEY MEAN ANY HARM AND AT THE SAME TIME THEY DON'T
REALIZE HOW MUCH HARM THEY ARE CAUSING US. AS FOR YOU MIKE. BE CAREFUL WITH
PUTTING THE EXTRA FOOD ON YOUR PLATE. THIS CAN CAUSE YOU TO TAKE IN MORE
THAN YOU SCHOULD WHICH CAN RESULT IN WEIGHT GAIN. LETS NOT GIVE THEM
SOMETHING ELSE TO TALK ABOUT. JAN LOOK FOR MY E-MAIL SOON.

JULIA SORRY IF I SOUND UNGREATFUL THIS IS NOT MY INTENTION. MY FRIST CHOICE
WAS THE LAP-BAND. BUT WHEN I DID RESEARCH ON ALL THE WLS I FOUND THAT THE
DS HAD THE HIGHEST PRECENT OF WEIGHT LOSS AND KEEPING THE WEIGHT OFF WAS
THE GREATEST. I JUST DIDN'T REALIZE THAT I WOULD EXCEED THAT PERCNTAGE RATE
WHICH I BELEIVE IS 80% OF YOUR OVERAGE. IAM NOW AT 92%. I HOPE THIS MAKES
SENSE. I'M NOT SAYING TO YOU THIS IS WHAT YOU SHOULD DO. THIS IS JUST MY
REASON FOR CHOOSING THIS WLS. I SAY A POUND OFF IS ALWAYS BETTER THAN A
POUND ON. HANG IN THERE TRY CHANGING YOUR WORKOUT ROUTINE. IF YOU START ON
THE TRADEMILL ONE DAY THE NEXT DAY START WITH THE BIKE. TALK TO A PERSONAL
TRAINER. YOU CAN ALSO CUT DOWN YOUR WORKOUT TIME TO 30 MINS ONE DAY AND 45
THE NEXT. GOOD LUCK!!!

I know what you are talking about. I am down to 155 and people are always
saying I should stop here. I tell them I need to lose another 30 to be at a
healthy weight and they say I will be too thin. They watch and comment on
what I eat all the time. I just want to live my life and not have my size
and what I eat be such a big deal.
I can see where being down to 110 would seem so weird you don't feel like
yourself. I don't recognize myself in the mirror or photos. A counselor con
help you deal with adjusting to your new body image. It is a lot harder
than people think. There is not calm middle ground.

I would give my life to be 110 pounds. I havn't had surgery yet but, my
doctors goal weight for me is 97 pounds. I am only 5'0 though. I get so
jealous when I read of people thinking they have lost too much weight. I
just hope you can look past what people say and be happy that you have been
such a success. Just keep in mind that there are so many people in the
world who would give anything to be you.
