Question:
I am on the pureed stage for the last few days.

Can anyone give me some ideas as to what i can add to cottage cheese to make it taste better. Pre surgery i used to love cottage cheese with canned pinapple chunks with no sugar added. Not sure if i can have canned fruit, no sugar added of course, at this stage of the game. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.    — sassy1696 (posted on March 31, 2009)

I don't eat cottage cheese but my husband does. Every once in a while, he puts in a dash of cinnamin. I don't know how good it tastes, but he enjoys it.

Cinnamon and splenda taste good in cottage cheese. There is also sugar free jelly and jam. Pureed I at meats or beans pureed to get my protein in. Good luck.

I used to hate cottage cheese but since WLS I love it. I mix unsweetened apple sauce with it.

If you puree the chuncks out of the cottage cheese and add sf instant pudding, it makes a thick, fluffy, creamy treat...I have used all the different flavors of SF pudding to make it and my family LOVES it...I originally got a similar recipe from the DSErs who use ricotta cheese, but decided to try cc because I am lactose intolerant, but for some reason can handle cottage cheese pretty well...but can also make it with low fat Ricotta cheese which tastes better than cottage cheese, but I personally cannot eat but a T or 2 of ricotta...(I wish I could eat it!) The SF cheesecake flavored pudding and ricotta cheese is just delicious! Top with pureed berries...It's heaven! I also mix in a little milk or soy if it's too thick...And often either mix SF coolwhip into the mix or put some on top...Use about 1 C of cottage cheese or ricotta to the small box of SF instant puddings (watch the pistachio flavor...it has nut pieces-parts that you might not be ready for just yet!) Don't forget to puree the cottage cheese first...I like it whipped smooth and no chunks, the texture is weird with chunks and doesn't taste the same at all!(My opinion)...Also with regular cottage cheese (Not pureed) I love cinnamon and raisons or sliced grapes (breaks up the skin into smaller pieces), nsa Peaches and whipped cream with walnuts (later when you can have nuts) and a few marichino cherries on top...Makes a pretty "healthy" dessert that even family likes because it's so pretty and looks good enough to eat! Then there's Eggface's blog...for recipes of all kinds as well as a WLS story and a funny and awesome lady!...She has a recipe for cottage cheese pancakes that I LOVE!!!! As well as baked cottage cheese cheescakes and other ideas! Check out the recipes here and bookmark this site! I ADORE this woman and she's also a WLS person as well as an OH Staff member! Her ideas are endless and inspiring even for someone like me who tries everything in the kitchen anyway...she is just an artist in the kitchen! bookmark it immediately! http://theworldaccordingtoeggface.blogspot.com/

Don't forget there are a lot of different flavored sugar free syrups too that blend easily into cottage or ricotta cheese.

I love cottage cheese with applesause and cinnamon. Pureed stage was also a great time for Wendy's chili in the blender with a dollop of sour cream on top. Very tasty. I cooked a roast with carrots and put chunks in the blender with the juice--very filling, could only eat a little bit, but boy was it good!
