Question:
Band Slippage?????? or just in need of another fill?
I had the lap band 3 yrs ago. I was doing great, until 3wks ago, all of a sudden I feel NO restriction, I can eat a full large meal (like prior to surgery) and still be hungry, this has never happen. I can also gulp water which has always been a no no for me. i have never been able to gulp without sliming. Could my band have slipped. I have no symptoms of slippage, like coughing at night, vomiting and reflux (but I did have every one of these for atleast 8 months prior to this last fill in july. Since July and with this last fill, I have GAINED 10 pounds and have NO restriction, whats really going on. Hopefully I just need another fill, but I all feels weird because I always had restrictions, until this last fill. I am having a UGI on sunday, so hopefully its in place and I just need another fill. Anyone else experience this? Oh and I have always had difficulty swallowing pills, today I swallowed a huge co enzyme 10 cap. without a problem. — Tretree (posted on September 26, 2008)

Most likely you need a fill, or worse you have slipped. The UGI will let
your surgeon know. Don't worry about it. eat as light as you can to not
irritate your stoma.

I have a friend at work who was one year post op and had her follow up UGI
and they found her band had slipped and she had no symptoms at all. She
had to have her band re-placed and is doing fine but just because you don't
have any symptoms doesn't mean something is not wrong. Listen to your body
and your mind. You know better than anyone else if something is wrong.
Good luck and I'll be praying for you.
