Question:
Am I eating????
Had RNY June 08, went to Pizza Hut last night order broccoli chedder soup (cup) was able to eat all that and drink a full glass of tea prior to eating... without any pain or issues, has my pouch stretched??? About 1 hour afterwords I felt very light headed and kinda sick to my stomach but didn't throw up wondering if that was from the tea because I usually only drink water. — * S. Andrea, liquids are not retained in the pouch, including soup liquids. Your
pouch emptied almost immediately and you might have had a low blood sugar
(hypoglycemic) episode. The caffeine in the tea might have contributed to
the light headed feeling, but the only thing you actually had in the pouch
that might have stayed were any solids the soup might have contained. I
wouldn't worry about the pouch being stretched. Have you see the pouch
test? Check it out at: http://www.5daypouchtest.com/index.html
It should help you now and in the future. Good luck.

i suspect your blood sugar bottomed out.It also could have been caused by
the milk in the soup milk has lots of sugar in it.Are u still on liguids or
have u moved to reg food?Liguids(soup) go straight through you IMO no
value. When i go out to eat if it is to a place that has nothing i can eat i
take a small container of egg salad, chicken sakad something i like and not
too much trouble
But most of the time i choose where we go so i can get what i need even at
pizza hut one time i got a calzone ,opened it up and only ate the insides.I
also only drank Water for a very very long time remember tea will
dehydrate u so for every oz of tea u drink u need to double the amount of
water and 64 oz a day is a lot for someone 3 months post op.good luck on
your journey

It could be that you are lactose intolerant now. I was after my surgery.
The cream soup might have done it.

Soup slid right through the pouch but it was made with cream and fat and
that caused dumping. It was a minor case of it, but never the less it was
dumping. The tea was not the problem. Dumping makes you feel sick to your
stomach and sweaty, like you have a small fever. It can last for 1/2 hour
up to 8 hours.

The soup is high in fat and could make you feel sick. How far before eating
did you drink the tea? Did your surgeon or nutritionist give you guidelines
about drinking and eating? Most advise the 30/30 rule.No liquids 30 minutes
before or after you eat.
Good luck!
