Question:
I don't have insurance and don't qualify for credit assistance.

I will have to pay for this myself so is there anyway that the payments can be worked out with the surgeon and hosptial. I make to much money to qualify for medicare or medicaid, so is there any hope that this surgery is avaliable for me.    — happymom3 (posted on May 11, 2008)

contact Capital One as they offer medical financing for WLS proceedures. They have a medical division that many hospitals and Barictric doctores deal with them for. Bill

I financed my surgery thru Capital One I did it online in about 5 minutes. My notes are almost $600 a month. I actually pay it weekly to make it more managable. It is also a nice reminder to keep me on track. $145 a week, my surgery (lap, RNY) was $23,300. The payments started immediately though. But I was sick and tired of waiting on insurance hoops. Its not like they can repossess your surgery haha, Thats what the doctors office said to me. Good Luck,

You should also call the hospital to see if arrangements can be made.

Also, while cking for financing, ck for lower cost surgeries. I was a self pay and had my surgery (lapband) in Tj. Mexico with Dr. Corvala. You can look at my profile for info on him. He was wonderful. I'm 6 wks post-op, down 29lbs and doing great. My surgery was $8000.00. I went thru beliteweight.com and they arranged everything. They can even help find financing. Dr. Corvala is a wonderful surgeon and his qualification are outstanding. I couldn't have done it anyother way then going out of the country. Good luck and God bless.

I actually will geet my lapband on June 19th. I as astounded at the interest rates on some of those medical credit places. I am self pay as well and got an offer from one of my existing credit cards to use one of their "checks" that they send out and the interest rate is only 2.99% UNTIL THE BALANCE IS PAID OFF! So, it is cheaper than the other methods of payment. I am using that. Good luck!
