I HAD THE GASTRIC BYPASS BUT I CAN TELL YOU THAT THIS IS ONLY A TOOL AND IF
YOU DO NOT FOLLOW UR DIET PLAN YOU CAN REGAIN. WHY DID YOU CHOOSE THE
BAND? I DID NOT WANT THE BAND BECAUSE A LOT OF PPL END UP RE DUEING THERE
SURGEY AND GETTING THE GASTRIC GOOD LUCK

I had lap-band surgery on 2/21/08. Prior to that date, I was put on a
slimfast diet for two weeks. Because I am lactose intolerant, I was
limited in my flavor choices, (I only found two that were lactose free,
vanilla & chocolate), but it was easy and convenient. When I woke up
from surgery, my doctor thanked me for losing 24 lbs. prior to. I guess it
made his job a lot easier.

This is for Angela: I chose the lapband because it is less invasive, less
complications, and 2 of my sisters have the band. One of my sisters have
lost over 120 pounds, and the other sister has lost over 50 pounds, since
1/08. Also one of the side effects for gastric bypass is loss of hair, and
I am not taking that chance!

Congrats and Good Luck. I had lap band surgery on 9/25/08 i'm 54 years old
and have lost 53 lbs. But to answer your question, loose some weight
before your surgery date, liquid diet or whatever your doctor says. I
didn't and my doctor had a hard time, my liver was enlarged and they had to
work around it. Which caused me lots of pain. I should of did what I was
told, but I didnt so learn by my mistakes. Best of luck to you... Connie

I had the Lap Band surgery and I followed the liquid diet to the
"T" and lost 20 pounds before surgery. I used Wolfgang Puck's
broth, sugar free jello, at Sam's Club they have a product in the ice cream
department that is called Philly Swirlly(?) and those ice creams are zero
sugar and real fruit. Just keep your liquid diet with a wide variety so
you don't feel like you are starving.
