Question:
What is the calorie intake
What is the caloric intake once you are back to eating? I know people that have had rny done and I just had it done a week ago and I am now trying to do the research around eating again in the future. Right now, I have to say, I am having a hard time with the liquid diet thing, I feel like I am not getting enough in, making me feel wobbly. But I am so afraid of stretching my pouch with to much liquid. Is that possible? Any information will help. Oh, by the way, if milk is allowed as a "clear liquid" is the mix sf carnation breakfast drink allowed? — teresasmiles (posted on February 17, 2008)

You can't stretch your pouch with liquids. They run in and dribble out.
You can, however, do some SERIOUS damage to yourself if you're not getting
adequate fluids. I wound up back in the ER three days after coming home
with dehydration. Call your doctor. If you haven't been keeping up with
your fluids and you're feeling "wobbly" you may be at the point
where you can't take in enough fluids to get back to where you should be.
You should also call your doctor with your questions about allowed liquids,
because every doctor is different. Hope you feel better soon!

You can never drink too much fluids. Calories is 900 Fat 25 Carb 100 that
would keep you maintained and allow you to lose if you need too that is
what people usually consume in the first year or so. The sf carnation
could be used but i could not drink it it made me through up.

As the first two people told you, you can not streach the pouch with liquid
because it overflows into your intestine. You need 100 oz of liquid a day.
Some of your issues might be too little liquid. As to food, you will be
healing still inside and solid food will be hard to take at first. You
will ewat what you can, but don't expect it to be much. 70% of what you
eat in calories needs to be from protein. Fruits and Veges are the
balance. Be sure to take a protein Shake when you go to solid foods, and
take your vit. and minerals. You might be low on B-12, but you can get a
spray at the drug store to spray under your tounge each morning and evening
to assist with B-12. If you are still feeling weak then get your doctor to
give you a B-12 shot. Be sure to take chewable iron at least 30 to 60 MGs
ber day. Not the over the counter Iron pills as they go right through you.

I always drank Suagr free Carnation instant breakfast. I would even make it
and put it in the freezer so it was kind of like ice cream. I dont know the
calorie intake per day but I eat a bagel with cream cheese and a medium tea
in the morning. For lunch I usually have a 1/2 sandwich and sugar free iced
tea for lunch or I have l;eft overs from the night before for lunch too.
For dinner I have a 1/2 chicken breast or prok chop or spagetti. What ever
I make for dinner. I sometimes snack in between. I eat triscuits (just a
few) or a banana. If I eat ice cream it is one scoop. Or one popsicle. I can
eat an ice cream sandwich. Sometimes for breakfast I eat a 3 egg omelet
with ham and cheese. Rarely do I eat the whole thing but I can sometimes. I
dont eat toast or anything else though and I am good for the day until
dinner time if I eat that
