Your surgery is after Thanksgiving, so I'm not sure what your question is,
I'm sorry. I know I had to go on a liquid diet for 2 days prior to my
surgery and if that's the case for you, you still have time to do the
turkey thing. There are a lot of holiday meal options for WLS patients
though. There is a book I got from bariatriceating.com that has tons of
recipes and a WHOLE section dedicated to Thanksgiving & Christmas.
There is also a lady on here that posts things on the main bored and she
has given recipes for pumpkin & sweet potatoe pies. :) She actually has
another site you can link to that has tons of dessert and appetizer
recipes. There are plenty of options. Since you haven't had the surgery, I
would enjoy what I can. That's what I did until 2 days before my surgery.
:) Good luck with your surgery. You will do great!!

My opionon on this is enjoy while you can. My doctor slowly has allowed me
to have things back. So if it was me that was having the surgery I would
enjoy what I could while I could because after surgery it is going to take
appoximately three months.....before you are back to being allowed all
foods...and actually it isn't even all foods....but I am 9 weeks out and am
still be allowed foods...it just all comes back in time. Good luck and
enjoy!!

Not sure what your question is, but I am now 7 1/2 months out, and have
resigned myself to yes, I am going to eat turkey (I have always loved it),
but only a few bites of stuffing and all the other bad stuff including
deserts (for deserts I am only going to have one bite as I am still scared
of dumping from surgar). But I will thoroughly enjoy that one bite let me
tell you! I am one of the lucky one's where one bite satisfies me for a
very long time! Good luck with your surgery! God bless!

your surgery is the week after thanksgiving -- just enjoy thanksgiving like
any other year -- last year my surgery was the day before thanksgiving --
which meant i didn't have to cook or stress -- good luck to you :) and
enjoy your thanksgiving :)

Hi Roy, thanks for writing. You have to plan to succeed, or you will plan
to fail. You can choose to eat somewhere beside home, or if you are at
home, you just have to get tough on yourself. If you are allowed solids,
maybe your spouse or a family member can make you a small plate. Perhaps
you can make a deal with yourself that you are not allowed to pick your own
food? I know it is tough, but you made the decision to do this now, so I
strongly encourage you to stick with your decision to follow your doctors
orders. It is just food, it is just a really tough time to have a food
fight with yourself. Take care. Patricia P.

I think you must be concerned because you will be on a liquid diet over
Thanksgiving? I had to do a liquid diet for 2 weeks prior to my surgery -
which was yesterday, by the way! I only had to worry about Halloween,
which wasn't very bad because I simply didn't buy any candy. I will be on
a pureed diet over Thanksgiving and I plan to maybe have pureed turkey,
sweet potato and beans as a treat that day. Will probably have to eat them
all a tiny bit at a time, but I'll still celebrate. For you, I say just
plain stick to your liquid diet and enjoy all the other intangibles about
the holiday such as time with family or football or just a day off work.
I'm trying to look at this as my LIFE - and not just one day out of it. In
reality, Thanksgiving is just another day and it's a day you need to take
care of yourself and your body. So all the best to you. My surgery went
well - I did lapband and so far have not had to take any narcotics, only
tylenol. Shelley
