Question:
I am 14 days out and seems like I am not losing any more weight!

I have weighed myself and the scale hasn't moved for the last week!    — Michele N. (posted on October 17, 2007)

Chill! A few things you need to realize. You are still recovering from MAJOR surgery. You're body still has gas from the anesthesia that is inside SLOWLY getting out. You are probably still swollen. You're body is in shock trying to go into starvation mode and not wanting to release the fat. Put your scale away! You probably won't see any loss until about a full month out! Walk as much as you possibly can to help the gas leave your body. Walkinig will also start preparing your body for the exercise you can probably start after 1 month. Take this time to rest (so you can recover correctly), walk as much as possible, and start to enjoy life! There is plenty of time to feel/watch the weight fall off. Also realize there will be times when you won't lose pounds, but you will sure notice a major inch loss! That's pretty much happned to everyone. Muscle does NOT weigh more than fat, but even when the scale doesn't move, your losing the fat as it's more bulky and takes up a great deal more space than lean muscle does! Keeping all this in mind, good luck, God bless and welcome to the losing side!

Put the scale away....I only weigh myself once a week.....so I can see a difference....if I did it every day what is a lb or two? The once a week thing works great for me!

I feel for ya hon! I went through the same thing and it is normal. It's probably just fluid retention. Make sure you're drinking enough water. I know it's hard at this stage, but keep taking small sips of water throughout the day. When I don't drink enough water, my weight stops moving!

I had the same experience. I had surgery Sept 18, 2007. I lost 19 lbs the first week and then nothing for at least 2 1/2 wks then finally the scales dropped 5 more pounds. I am one month out today and I have lost 27 lbs. Just keep trying! Good luck!

I'm going to have to seriously disagree with the poster that posted the "Rules of the Tool" on 1 of the "rules." --"Protein drinks are not to be taken after the first 6 weeks unless specifically directed by us, your medical professionals. If you need extra protein, I like the drinks which are only protein and no carbs, such as the clear, bottled, Isopure." -- Not many can tolerate the Isopure. I am 6 1/2 months post op and I STILL use the powdered protein drinks. I use the Any Whey tasteless protein powder. It only has 1 carb per serving. Nothing wrong with that, and I was told we would probably have to continue to supplement our diet with that until about a year out. There are times many of us still fight being nauseated now and again, and there is no way I can eat during this time. I take a gas x tablet, wait for the nausea to subside and then make a protein drink. I have been using the powder less and less from day one, as I am getting more of my protein from my foods. I don't have to use it everyday. Each person is different, so it's best to consult with YOUR nutritionist. Again, good luck, God bless, and welcome to the losing side.

Hey, don't feel bad. I'm almost 4 weeks out and I lost 9 lbs the first week, but I've picked up more eating and it's slowed. I go next week for my first fill and I hope that helps, but my dad passed away in June and it's been laying very heavy on my heart for about a week now. I miss him more and more everyday. So just keep holding on. Things can be worse. We are all in this together. Lydia [email protected]
