Question:
I keep hitting plateaus, and am losing slowly.
Hello all, I have lost 80lbs in about 5 months. The losing has slowed to 1-2lbs per week. I really want to lose 30 more pounds. Does anyone have any suggestions on haw to jump start the losing again. I now eat 800-1000c per day and go to Curves regularly. I have just started to use the Ellliptical machine a couple time per week. Thanks for any helpful info. — saveliephsol (posted on August 28, 2007)

It sounds like you are right on track. You will slow down with the loss,
towards the end. Less fuel to burn. If you slow down more try increasing
your calories some. It may help up your metabolism a bit. I know it
sounds goofy but it is true.
Congrats on your awsome progress

it sounds like you have lost the majority of your weight, @ wich time you
generally start to slow or stall in your weightloss...keep up your regimine
as you tone you will continue to lose slowly...keep up your water intake
and high proteins and you should stay right on track. I am 16 mos post-op @
goal and am only losing about 2-4 lbs. per month now, as long as you are
not gaining i would just keep deoing what your doing and don't stress about
the slower loss.

For the plateau's, you have to shock your body by doing something
different. Try different exercises at Curves or less calories more water
etc etc. I am like you, 88.5 lbs in 5 months, however I have a great deal
more to go. Good luck and God Bless!

Sounds to me to that you are right on track. I'm 6 months out and am just
hitting the 80 pound mark so don't get down because you are down to 1-2 lbs
per week -- that at least 8 in a month. As you progress on the eliptical,
you will start to see additional weight loss because you are going to
change the exercises that your body is used to. I read someplace that when
you're working out if you don't change your workout routine your body will
become -- let's say -- immune to the exercises. You're doing excellent --
no need for a jump start --the body is doing exactly what its suppose to
do. RELAX and enjoy the new you.

I've not lost much since around February of this year (2007). I HAVE,
however, lost about 5 or 6 inches from around my waist line. This means
that I've lost fat there but have gained muscle elsewhere. This is because
I also started doing some serious physical exercise in February. When the
post-surgery honeymoon period is over, most of us start getting hungry
again and eating more. If we don't compensate the increased food intake
with increased physical exercise, plateaus and even weight INCREASE will
ensue. So, if you want to "jump start" the losing again, START
JUMPING (literally). Personally I like to take loooong rides on my bicycle.

You are doing well and probably progressing exactly on target. It took me
9 months to lose 90 lbs and I was losing steadily every week. I did give
up Curves because I felt I outgrew it. I joined a full service gym and saw
results almost immediately. The elliptical is a wonderful invention. I
try to burn about 200 calories with the elliptical, treadmill and bike. In
addition, I go to classes and work on the machines for strength training.
all of these things make a huge difference.
