Hmm.. other people may have a better responce for you.. but I had a HARD,
HARD, VERY HARD time with aetna. I had 5 co-morbidities and weighed 468.
Aetna declinded me and said they needed 5 years worth of documents.
However, you have to remember each plan is different. We had a pretty good
plan and overall I loved Aetna. So-- we made the switch to blue cross and I
was aproved within 2 days. All you can do is give it a shot! Call your
insurance and ask if you're concerned.
Good luck hun!

I have Aetna PPO and I had to have the 3 month diet and exercise also.
After my last nutritionist appointment the doctors office submitted to
Aenta on a Tuesday around 4:00 p.m. and around 9:00 a.m. on Wednesday they
called and told me I was approved. Some may have difficulty but my approval
was easy. Good luck.

HELLO I HAVE AETNA POS, WHICH IS AN HMO, BUT PAY & COVERS HEALTH
EXPENSES LIKE A PPO. IF YOU GO TO AETNA.COM, AND READ THEIR GUIDELINES FOR
BARIATRIC SURGERY, AND FOLLOW THEM AS WRITTEN, IT SHOULDN'T BE A PROBLEM. I
DID THE 3 MOS NUTRITION CLASS, FOLLOWED ALL THEIR REQUIRMENTS AND HAD NO
PROBLEM. I WAS APPROVED FOR SURGERY IN A WEEK, AND MY SURGERY IS JULY 11TH.
HOPE THIS HELPS

Hi Natasha, it sounds like you have done all that they have asked. So I
personally think that you have a good shot at approval. It is up to your
Insurance company though. It sounds like they support a wls program,
otherwise they would just disapprove you from the beginning. I hope it
works out. I know you are anxious, but they are not necessarily trying to
help you lose weight, they are seeing if you can follow directions and have
tried to lose weight. It seems they will have their answer in the findings
from what you have done. Don't be foolish though, keep on exercising,
especially your upper body. You need your upper body a lot after surgery
and the walking or exercise will help your blood pressure and other things
in surgery. So keep up the exercise and water to prepare for surgery. I
hope you get an approval soon. Take care. Patricia P.

I had Aetna HMO and had Weight Watcher 3 months and 3 month Physician
weight loss. I lost nothing on the physician weight loss. I was approved
within a week.

I never could lose weight by dieting, that is why I had the surgery. I
have Aetna PPO. Just jump through all the hoops, and they will approve
you. Make sure you do everything to the letter of what they want.
