Question:
On June 3rd I will make 2 months Post-Op

I had the Lap Gastric and from 275 I am 232lbs as of today 5/31/07. I lost 43lbs. I go by the diet My Nut gave me and I walk every night for 1 hour..Is this good progress for me or am I losing to slow? I feel great . I want to exercise more but my Dr said no to wait before I do any sit-ups etc...    — YVETTE121 (posted on May 31, 2007)

If you ask me you are doing GREAT. I had gastric bypass on March 5th, had tons of complications, and was in the hospital for one month and four days. I went in at 246 and I am down to 217, i have only lost 29lbs.

U R doing GREAT!! Don't freak out over the number on your scale. Go with how you feel, how your clothes are fitting and how much more you are getting done in a day's time. I had to wait until my 3month mark to start core-exercises - don't rush into it. GIve your body time to heal.

Yvette, I'm 3 months out and lost 51 lbs. You are doing great -- no such thing as losing slow. Your body is loosing as it desires and at its own pace. Fret Not. If your surgeon says no on the situps -- then weight. You can do other strength exercises like tricep extensions to tone and firm the sagging skin that will come under the arms. If you have an eliptical training system at your disposal, start doing 3-5 minutes on that and build up -- that machine will work every muscle you have. You're doing great! Keep up the good work.

HELLO, in what diet was it that you lost over 20lbs a month consecutively? hahaha Yes, I too agree, you are doing AB FAB! Especially since you are LISTENING to your doctors. Most don't and then when complications arise, oh, who's fault is it? yeesh! DOING GREAT KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK

Each dr is different but after one month post op, I was cleared to do any exercise I wanted. After that appointment, I found my old basic tae bo tape, and started doing that 2 days later. Walking is always good though, and you can never do enough. Each person is different and I had absolutely NO complications and I progressed more than most especially after surgery. I was up and walking in the hospital with in 2 hours after surgery to get rid of the gas. The nurses were even impressed. My gung ho attitude and knowing things would go great helped immensely. At one point I was a little depressed that I hadn't lost a lot of weight, BUT I knew I had lost a lot of inches. So always focus on the inches, not so much the weight. That's more for the medical side of our tool. Also go by how much better you feel! Keep going! Good luck!
