Hi, I am self pay here in Oregon, by BC/BS has an exclusion for WLS. I
checked around, different doctors/hospital and the average cost for WLS RNY
is about $25000 (sick huh) You can get a lapband for about $12000. Yes
some of the doctor's do have a finance company that you can go though, I
believe it is called Capital One Healthcare, not sure though. Good luck
with everything that comes your way.

The doctor that did my surgery 13 weeks ago has stopped taking self pay
patients. The reason, as he explains it, is that the surgery is about
$22,000 if everything goes like clock work and you have no ICU recovery. If
there is any problem, any at all, you are looking at more. He says if
someone ends up in ICU/CCU for 3 or 4 days it could put the cost over
$100,000. Good Luck!

My doctor charges $22,000.00($5,000.00 ofr him and $17,000.00 for the
hospital). Luckily, I was approved by Avmed and all I have to pay is
$250.00. Have you looked into having WLS outside USA?

I live in Kansas and was a self pay, I had the LapBand, and the total cost
was 16,500 (5,000 to the Dr, 11,200 to the hospital the rest was misc for
labs, dietian, psych and any other mics) The RNY is 26,000. I was
financed with MBNA/Bank of America, it is much like a car loan, 7 years.
BCBS of KS sucks...weight loss anything is an exclusion. No matter haow
much you are saving them in the long run, no more HBP or sugar or
Depression etc.
GOOD LUCK!

It's worth checking this website out: http://www.carecredit.com/
My Surgeons office has it posted with flyers for patients that need this
plan. I haven't used it but have heard wonderful things about them.

Mine was $43K+ without insurance (and I'm grateful that I had it). I
thought about going to Mexico a few years ago (which I have no qualms about
and if I didn't have insurance, I would have), and everything was quoted as
$7500 - I know the prices have gone up since then though.

I am in Philadelphia, PA The Teaching Hospitals like U of P want over
30,000 ......... In the suburbs 26,500 ........ in upstate Pa they want
18,900 ...... I was told the further away from the city you get the cheaper
it is. I was self pay and went for the suburbs to be close to home and
felt very comfortable with the surgeon.

Hi. I am self-pay in suburban Chicago. Hospital was $20,000, surgeon was
$6200 and I'm not sure about anesthesiologist because he didn't charge me.
I run my husband plastc surgery office, and received awrite off from the
anesthesiologist who was a friend of ours. The typical cost for him would
have been around $1200 or so. Good luck to you and everyone else ( and to
me...my surgery is Tuesday). Joan
